how often should the jewelry be inspected/polished/cleaned?

I was wondering, how many often should I get my rings fixed? My rings are in very good condition, but should I at least take them to the jeweler to see that the diamonds aren't loose or there isn't any other problems. I have my own ultrasonic washer where I was my jewelry at least monthly (I use a lot of lotions and makeup and wash my hands all the time, so the ring would be covered with all of these if I would own the machine)

Any other thoughts how to keep jewelry as pretty and in good shape?

The best person to answer your questions about your specific rings is your jeweler. Also, if you haven't tried to run a search on this website, then you should because there's a ton of info out there about this exact topic and you'll find a lot of good advice.

That said, in general, you definitely want to take your ring to a jeweler on a regular basis to have your prongs & settings checked. Some folks say every 6-12 mths, others say 3-6 mths, but it really depends on your ring design and what your jeweler suggests. If your rings are platinum, they"ll need to be polished regularly if you want to maintain the shine. So you can have the jeweler do a quick polish for you during your prong-checking visits, and then once a year (this is my timeframe), you can have your jeweler fully "refurbish" them.

As for cleaning the ring, again if you search this website you'll find some great ideas for cleaning solutions to use (either to purchase or ideas of what you can mix yourself). Most folks will advise you that if you have pave, or tiny diamond accents, you probably shouldn't use an Ultrasonic because it can shake and rattle the diamond out of the setting if your prongs are loose.

Mine is about to have a check every six months in the condition that I wear my diamond ring everyday. Generally speaking a diamond is the hardest things, thus the most important point is to check the settings, have the maintenance for the materials and so on.

I get mine checked every six months but I also am a chronic louper and I clean the dickens out of my rings. As far as polishing, I get those polished as soon as I think they look cruddy.

I do this myself. I keep them clean and I check them periodically to make sure the stones are secure. I rarely ever have the need to go to a jeweler unless they actually need sizing or something. I once did have a loose stone and took it to be tightened.
