How picky are you about bezels?

I would bezel-set everything if I could, and all my main stones are bezel-set for the jewellery pieces I have commissioned.

I did not check and view them under any magnification when I received them, only from a hand-held distance of about 20cm. I don't examine the photos I had taken for details.

I am happy with the quality of the pieces I had so far from the 3 benches I have used to date.

I'm not sure what you mean by "difference."

For OP’s original question
There’s a difference (imo) in margin of error / common flaws / be perfect :
When comparing diamonds to colored gemstones.
When comparing faceted vs cabochon
When comparing curved to angular outline shape of stone.
When comparing one vendors work to another vendors work.
What’s an acceptable margin of error /common flaws in a $1000 1ct diamond round bezel platinum solitaire setting compared to a $3000 bezel 1ct diamond round bezel platinum solitaire?
Does one expect same margin of error in a reworked bezel vs a new fabricated one? A vendor putting a different size /shape stone than the original bezel?

The consumer knowing the tradeoffs in their particular scenario the bench faces might make end result judgement different?
I see that - of course.

There’s a difference in each individual scenario that I would judge the outcome’s margin of error, common flaws, the perfectness of.

I agree with everything you've said here.
I just think that the consumer sometimes forgets about the human element in all of this.

That should say 4 benches and not 3.

Sorry if I came off too strong here, but this is like listening to the patient telling the surgeon how to work.

Oops -- you completely had me until this last line (changed my LOVE to LIKE; sorry -- I do love your example). The patient can't tell the surgeon how to work but they can and should expect the surgeon to do their work with excellence and diligence. I think it's more like that.

What? You downgraded me? .....how could you......;)!!!

Well maybe that wasn't the best example, but you know what I meant!

You guys know how I feel about making jewelry....I love it and I think jewelers get harshly criticized on PS a bit too much.

I think a lot to do with this in what a consumer pays. If I'm paying for visible perfection, I expect it. It's all price point for me.

When I make my jewelry, I try hard to make it perfect. I'm my own harshest critic.
Of course if you're paying a lot, then you should get quality work.
I was just trying to point out that bezels are tricky.

Pretty picky, dependent on design. I've returned a ring to redo a blobby bezel because I wanted more structured:

I've also specifically requested a more organic/wonky bezel to match an imperfect/wonky stone:

Here is a ring I was ok with a less precise bezel due to the shape of the stone/design:

For the most part, the bezel work needs to be refined enough to my naked eye. Additional points if it stands up to the loupe, but I wouldn’t be too upset if blowing it up showed me some minor imperfections.
