Hi everyone!

I've been drooling over everyone's lotus rings in https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-us-your-lotus-rings.120874/. I was actually hoping to get a few opinions, mainly on which setting to get ie: lush lotus vs regular lotus. I'm leaning towards the round moonstone cab from Sally, in silver or white gold..but I want the prongs to be sort of a cross between the lush and regular lotus. More tipped/swirled at the ends rather than pointing straight up so when you view from top down the prongs don't quite line up like in the lush lotus.

..sort of like a cross between these three gorgeous rings that belong to ilovegemstones.

I'm not a huge fan of the way the lush lotus has less "space" in the petals compared to some of the regular lotus settings, but I love the way the basket on the regular has MORE space.. if that makes sense.

Anyone have any opinions? Or does anyone have some close up shots of the basket from the bottom rather than the side? Am I being a little too picky here?

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong pictures but I thought all 3 settings are pretty much the same thing? The only reason they look different is because the setting has to accomodate different sized stones, plus one is a cabochon. A smaller stone will have a smaller gap and a larger stone will be air-ier.

Haha I was worried it would be a little like that, yeah the difference is a little subtle, basically one has more metal on the bottom and "swirls" on the bottom. I guess if you can't see much of a difference it won't make a huge impact.

I own a couple of lotus rings but not a lush lotus. I think the lush lotus only looks substantially different from the regular lotus in larger stone sizes (maybe 7mm and bigger). Otherwise it's too difficult to discern the swirly pattern. I'd stick with the regular lotus if your stone is <7mm and consider both if it's larger.

Thanks for the info :). I was considering it with a stone around 8mm to show off the prongs better, but if I end up getting their "top grade" moonstone it's about 6mm..so in that case I guess i'll go with the normal lotus.

When I bought a baby lotus from Sally I stared & stared at the various lotuses & still couldn't see the difference among them. What I did see seemed more like a trick of light & shadow or photography. Or maybe I'm blind. For 6 mm, you're right, the regular lotus would be just as nice -- it's such a gorgeous graceful setting, one of my faves.

Well in the middle of a convo now, so we'll see how it goes :) getting kinda excited though :naughty:
