How secure are semi-bezel settings?

I absolutely love them (see pic below), but I'm wondering if they are good for an active person who does a lot with their hands? Do they hold a center stone as securely as a 6 prong setting? Thank you for your insight!

I am very active in general, lifting & carrying boxes, 30+ lb bags, wrangling big dogs, etc. I felt the semi bezel was perfect for my lifestyle. I do take my ring off while doing housework but wear it everyday to work. I chose my setting because the aesthetics of the overall look make my heart sing, not for practical reasons, but feel it is safer. I hope others chime in as I've only had my ring since October.

Not 15 minutes ago whacked mine on the door as I walked by... Bent the the whole thing to one side. Dented in the petal design on the basket and the diamond looks ok in my loupe. I'm beside myself ;( .... But it's in tact which is more than I can say for my finger which is smarting right now.... Back to ERD on Monday. :(( :nono: The bezel held tight...

May that is terrible!

Laila it is as secure as you can get if the bezel is done well! A semi is less secure than a full, of course.

Ditto - I've always thought of them as more secure than prongs! Maybe that's the result of spending too much time on JM's old site ::)

That particular setting wouldn't be my choice, because of the hollowed out underside - the hollow would trap water and lotion and stuff and drive me completely crazy, but the Sholdt is one of the most elegant settings I've ever seen

Set properly semi-bezels are just fine. Set poorly, nothing will work. It's more about your trust in the jeweler than the details of the design.

Thanks guys!
