Ok ladies,

I am so tired of runs in my nylons! Just this morning...brand new pair...grr

Any tried and true tips you have found to prevent runs in nylons? Or any good, sturdy brands I should try? Maybe its not possible. I wish I could wear jeans to work! LOL

Thanks

When putting them on, try to ease them up with the pads of your fingers, it keeps nails away which can catch or poke right through them. Also keep your feet moisturised and toe and finger nails smooth as these can catch. Check the inside of your shoes too for rough areas as this can cause runs. Generally the thicker denier are better for harder wear, not as glam but more practical but I find the glossy ones quite good as there seems to be a little more to them and they hold up better. Also for everyday if you are wearing pumps, reinforced toes are a good choice as this gives a bit more protection.

Freeze them. Seriously Put them in the freezer. It changes something in the nylon - so they are less likely to run.

My sister did her science fair project on this while in highschool.

Yes, she did graduate college with a degree in fashion design and now is gainfully employed. LOL. I guess we should''a known! Most people do volcanoes and bugs for a science fair right?

Yep....laney''s right....by freezing them, you''re strengthing the fibers in the stockings and make them less prone (but not foolproof!) to running.

And it you get a run, to prevent it from running anymore (like if you are at work) put some clear nailpolish on it...I dont remember where I learned that, but I have tried it in the past, and it works. Kind of "solidifies" the run and prevents it from spreading...

Good advice, ladies! Thanks! I had heard of the freezer thing but never knew if it really helped or not!

This may be a silly question, but for how long / how often do you freeze them? Does just freezing them once do the trick?

WoW! Put them in the freezer hey??? I learn something new everyday!
yes, how long or how often do you freeze them???

You just freeze them once.

I think overnight. But I''ll ask the sis who did the project! Hold one!

Laney, any news on how often to freeze your nylons??

My sis finally wrote back - and as she recalls it was 1 to 2 days. She said ask Mom. LOL! So - I will - but I''d go with two days..

Waiting on more confirmation... haven''t googled it yet. I bet I''d find something too.
