Ok this obsession is getting out of hand. I have a nice asscher on hold and was going to go with a solitaire. However, I got to thinking about how cool it might look to go with trillion cut pink sapphires as side stones.

Think this would look good? Any ideas on where to get a three stone setting without the gemstones already in place?

Thanks!

I think it would look great! I can''t wait to see what you end up with for your ring.

Me too..... way kewl even!

Slurp...Yum! I'm in!

In a pinch you could use this emerald cut as a sample...the traps here need to have some points added to help you visualize your inspiration and their color needs some pink photo shop work too!

Here are your pink Trillionsfor a copy and paste

Another option is using Shields...facets seem to compliment the asscher need a little bit of pink color added in this example...

Traps also repeat step cut of the asscher

Look how the facets just spill off this emerald step cut into the side stones...(I have no idea what those sides are called)

Ok...I sent you all these to prove to you that you can't find a empty setting for the arrangement you are after. See how each one of these examples are flush with the main stone? And how the table facets all line up in a complimentary fashion? That was done with skill that can't be found in a READY SET GO mounting.

If you want a stock setting...you are going to stay with your solitaire plan...

But since you are an out of the box thinker...and striving for slurpiness...with your trillion idea CUSTOM! You are just not going to be able to find a setting with OUT the stones set...that will accomodate your creative idea. Your asscher has a certain size that needs to be married to a certain size side stone...

I was hoping to find more on Leon's site to support your choice-but only those one pink trillions were available in my quick search. I think he is leaning more towards shields, traps and that Cadillac emblem shape to repeat the step cut spillover. Poetry takes work don't you think?

Also perhaps you may want to use pink gold for the prongs and undercarriage of the pink trillions. If you do that there won't be a pre-designed setting for you to acquire either.

Custom is in your future...but it doesn't have to be scary...with an asscher you owe that beauty a custom home!

edited to add:

I did a google using this term...asscher trillion setting...and I got alot of sites showcasing that particular marriage of stones. Some were not "precious authentic" quality and are not allowed here on that board. But if you are wanting to see how your idea will look...I think you will be pleased seeing that many examples. Of course there aren't any pink trillions...but combining those two cuts really make an impressive show! So take a peek.

Is this for an engagement ring or a fun right hand ring?

Sdevante...look at this thread...it just got posted TODAY!

The center is not an asscher but the whole package of form is what you are looking for...and then there are the pink sapphire trillions! Yummy slurpee!

Hope that helps to answer...HOW WOULD THIS LOOK?

Thanks for the responses everyone, especially casablanca with all the nice links. This might actually look pretty cool. Only problem is I don''t have enough time to do it because supposed to be proposing in about two weeks, so maybe Ill have to do a solitaire for now and do custom a bit down the road.

I also found a orangish champagne princess cut diamond that I think would look nice with trillion white diamonds.

*scratching head*

I get into this way too much for a guy! haha.

Thanks again everyone!

So that explains why you wanted to find an empty setting...you are under a time crunch!

(Arrrggghhh you are as fickle as a woman! Now you looking at colored center stone princess? You are all over the place, aren't you?) Breathe take a few hours off...come back and look at the situation.

I would call a jeweler and see if they are willing to help on your schedule. If you are using sapphire sides you may have options price wise to offset the custom or semi custom work you need. There are semi mounts with side stones already in them, but they would more than likely be (white)diamonds. (which would help with your colored stone NEW DILEMMA).

Is your asscher hold at a PS vendor? If so I have seen many of them pull miracles for schedules...and budgets. So don't hesitate to ask. But by all means...get to asking tomorrow! Toot TOOT!

PS...there is nothing shabby about an asscher solitaire...that route is a great choice. SO don't knock it!
