I have narrowed it down to two diamonds. This one is much better on my budget, so please let me know what you think. .5 carat, D color, VVS1, Excellent polish and symmetry, table is 58%, depth is 65%. Sorry for the bad pics, this is the best I could get. My other option is a REALLY nice stone on GOG, but its gonna really mess up my budget so I hope this one looks nice. LOL.

Thanks for any and all opinions.

I am not liking the "dead" looking area in the middle quadrant of the diamond. It is like the steps cease...

I agree with Dreamer and Karl, not loving this one....

I just changed to an asscher from a princess with WF, who was AMAZING to work with in finding a stone. They were able to provide me with all of the necessary images to make an informed decision. Based solely on the numbers, this one may be good, but you would have to have them get the stone and the IS, Sarin and ASET images for the best possible decision. It''s very hard to make a good decision based solely on numbers, as the wonderful members here will tell you.

I wouldn''t purchase an Asscher through BN. They have good customer service, but you really need to see more images. That one is not high quality and you need an ASET. Then again, even images don''t really tell you everything. But if you are buying online, the images and someone else''s opinion are all you have.

GOG is awesome-- I highly recommend them. I went through James Allen, who is also great (it was easy for me to go in to their office and look at stones, and there prices are very good). They are taking very good care of me. It was tough to weed through their selection to find good ones, but they are there. WF is also a good option as someone else mentioned.

I agree with everyone else-- that stone looks very dark. No light return from the windmills, at least at the angle from which the photo was taken.

Thanks for the input everybody. This site contains a wealth of information.

I have picked a few diamonds on GOG that look good and am having my local jeweler, Genesis Diamonds in Nashville, pull a few to look at and see if they are competitive. Really leaning towards GOG though.

I have a bad feeling I am going to blow my budget though, lol. :)

Cool. Good luck finding something. Try to see a few stones to help you find which ''look'' you like in an asscher. There are many different flavors, eg small vs. big corners, the various different patters under the table, etc. Finding a stone with everything you like with as little compromise as possible is very difficult. It has taken me 3 months. So don''t get frustrated if you don''t find the right one tomorrow. Take your time.

Bump - back at it again. Gave up on local jeweler after reading horrendous reviews online. Decided to stick with GOG since they have awesome service and pics.

How are either of these:

.71 Carat, I, VVS2 <--- My mum, whom I''ve recruited in my new obsession, really liked this one, although I think it looks like it may be really dark?

.84 Carat, J, VS1 <--- I like the depth and windmill pattern to this one although if I am reading the ASET correctly, it may still have some darkness to it.

Also, they have two more nice diamonds that are about $1000-$1400 more - can''t figure out if it''s worth that much more money or not. Especially since that really strains the budget.

So, Asscher folks, is the .84 Carat J diamond good for the money, or could better be had for the same money, or would something about $1000 more really and truly be worth $1000 more?

Lol Thanks, yet again!

I would go for the D VS2.

It is recomended by GOG when you see the stone has their Lifetime Guarantee.

Whoops, sorry, was mentioning that from the general database of GOG. OP states that there are others costing more from GOG, so I am looking at those.

LOL! I thought I was going nuts trying to find it, thanks!
