It's reserved for me already so I feel o.k. with posting it.

I'm not a large stone person, so I'm good with 5 mms. All my other sapphires are either lighter blue, purple, or strong color shifters.

I like this one as, according to Michael, it's a med blue (something I've had on my short list) & not a big color shifter (which is what I want). He says it's well cut for a native cut, no window, medium table & not a flat crown.

What do you think?

Thanks so much.

After reading the answers to questions I would have asked... I like it!

didn't break the bank and looks fine to the eye! what are you going to do with it?

I disagree with the assessment of no window; I see one in all 3 pictures but in fairness, it is super small to the point you probably will notice it in person. It'll definitely "disappear" once set. The culet may also be slightly off centered but again, it's not by much, so should fit a standard setting easily. Colour is indeed a medium blue but somewhat steely. In looking at the price though, I still consider it a good buy because its faults are minor.

I think it's pretty. Please let us know what you think when you get it, and take some pictures! :)

I think you've chosen a good setting which will make the stone look bigger because of the background support.
I had bookmarked that setting myself although in white gold, till looking for a stone however.
The sapphire color is pretty--perhaps "denim" blue--but I guess you'll know when you see it in person.

Don't forget the foil test to be sure the colour of the sapphire remains attractive to you once bezeled. It can be tricky to predict how a non precision cut will react to being enclosed.

Chrono, I've read your suggestion before and think it's such a clever idea. I'll have to try that. Sonoma the stone is so pretty! That blue is lovely and it looks sparkly. :wavey:

I think the credit goes to someone else first though. I've always just cupped it but another ingenious PSer suggested the foil method which is so easy and works better.

That's why this is a great site.... people sharing ideas and being friendly.
