Hi All,

This is my third post and still have not decided on a diamond. sigh! This I have it blocked.. :) One other diamond got snatched under my feet the last time. Here is the link for it.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/F-SI1-Excellent-Cut-Round-Diamond-1523312.asp

Pros:
1. The LxBxH of this diamond is perfect as to what I want
2. The hearts and arrows are very crisp. Hearts are crisper than others I have seen.
3. It is F color
4. HCA 1.5
5. Good bang for buck for 3Cs - color, cut and carat
6. No florescence

Cons and questions
1. SI1 clarity. Has twining wisps and 10x zoom (the picture on the diamond page) shows quite a bit of surface graining, especially in the middle. According to two customer representatives I spoke to, it is eye clean and surface graining is not visible whatsoever. Also according to them the graining is not affecting the light performance. Is that true? Please take a look at the diamond and tell if this is a good buy. I read a bit about twining wisps and I am told that it is not going to affect the durability of the diamond.
2. No AGS report. Can't see the light performance. Is ideal scope picture good enough? How do I read it?

Ultimate question: What do you guys think overall? Good diamond?

Biting my nails till I get some responses here!

Thanks a bunch!

Ideal Scope is good enough. It looks good.

Thanks all.. But I am still unsure about the surface graining... What do you guys think? Would that be detrimental to its performance. I am not sure how it can be eye clean when at 10x zoom it is clearly visible.

If JA's customer service said the graining is not visible, it is not visible. I'm sure wearing a ring for 8 hrs without cleaning it probably mucks it up more than surface graining will.

By the way the picture is not 10x, it is at least 30-40x.

If you are talking about the 10x used for grading, that is under very specific lighting conditions. In real life diamonds are very sparkly and that covers inclusions well.
