I have wanted one..but they are WAAAAAAY too expensive. So I bought 6 loose baroque golden south sea pearls, and one round gold SS (for the center) all roughly 11mm.

I have a white gold chain, and I plan on making a 7 pearl tin cup necklace with them. I am using the VIGOR jewlers glue to glue the pearl to the chain (they will all be drilled)...does that sound OK? Best of all, it costs me 1/10 of a premade golden SS pearl necklace!!!! I should get my pearls in a week or 2, and I will show pics as soon as I am done!!

Ooh that does sound like a fun project!! Would love to see "in progress" shots too

Glueing pearls to the chain? I don''t understand. Are you saying that the pearls will be drilled with a hole large enough for the chain to slide thru? And then you''ll glue them in place?

Another way to do this is to get some wire to match the metal of the chain. Use a medium guage wire, say 24g. or 26g (this size wire fits thru normal size drill holes). Cut a piece of wire, long enough to go thru the pearl leaving about 1/2 inch or so on each end of the pearl. Cut the chain into the lengths you want (the distance between the pearls). Make a loop with the wire and link it to the chain.

The benefit of doing it this way is in the future if you wish to change the necklace around, or use the pearls another way, you are not left with huge drill holes and glue that needs to be removed without damaging the pearls.

Can''t wait to see your results. Judging from the pictures of your pearls that I''ve seen, I''m sure it''ll be beautiful.

I have a small box chain I will use (slightly smaller then the drill hole). I am going to cut the end ''loop'' off and thread it through the holes. I am going to place a very small drop of the jewelers glue (what all the pearl sites say to use) on the chain, and then slide the pearl over it.

My FW tin cup necklace from macys has the same design and I LOVE that necklace.

What a great project at a fraction of the cost! I too would like to see the step by step process.

I will for sure take step by step photos for you guys. I am excited to start! I have a couple REALLY cool looking baroque SS. Dave said they look like snow men lol.

Do you have pictures of the pearls? Where did you get ''em?

oooh, nice project. looking forward to seeing pics.

Great project, please show pictures as it develops.

Looking forward to the photos too - I''d love to be able to make my own necklaces!
