NOT ENGAGED!!!
Yet...
...but I have made huge progress recently! Thanks to some advice from several of you ladies, I finally sat my man down and told him how I was feeling and that I thought it was really important for us to set some kind of a timeline for an engagement and wedding. I could not believe his response! Instead of dancing around it or changing the subject which he has often done in the past, he said, "well I''d like to be married within 2 years from now". I reminded him that I would need at least close to a year for planning so that meant he would need to propose within a year. THEN he said, "You know I''m ready now, I just want all this stuff with my job to blow over before I buy your ring (long story short, he works for his father who owns a business and should be taking over in a few years but has recently decided he wants to go another direction... causing some family/financial problems
).
THEN he asked me to show him what kind of ring I want! I gave him some brief diamond education (didn''t want to overwhelm him too much with everything I''ve learned lately), told him it HAS to be a well-cut RB, and showed him a couple of settings I like (although I''m not dead-set on anything yet, still lots of looking to do. I told him I want to choose the diamond together and pick out 2-3 settings I like but have him choose the setting so it''s still somewhat of a surprise... he however says he''d rather I just pick the one I love best. Not sure yet... just excited!!!
