Having it appraised by David Atlas, hopefully there aren''t any problems. If it looks ok, going to go ahead and have it set in this:

Total Carat Weight = 1.00

Comes to $7500. I''ll try to post pictures when I get it. Now I just have to figure out what to do about insurance.

Congrats

How exciting.

Very exciting!

I missed your earlier talk about this stone... what drew you in the end to a D IF?

only thing rarer than D IF is a well cut D IF

Wow, that''s quite the diamond! Congrats and enjoy!

Just a question....what is the whole process with getting the appraisal with blue nile? Did you buy the diamond first, getting it delivered to you, then get the appraisal done, then deliver it back to them to get it set?

Congrats on a beautiful D, IF diamond!!! It''s gonna be stunning!! Can''t wait to see the pictures!!

My budget was always about $7,000. She said she didn''t want anything bigger than .75 carats (she has small hands) so I decided to get the best I could at that size, hence the D, IF (the last diamond I bought her was a D, VS1 so I had to at least match that).

Blue Nile will ship you the diamond separate if you want so you can have it appraised before they set it for you. If you take that route, you buy the diamond first and then the setting after you get it appraised. That''s what I''m doing (having David Atlas appraise it and sending it back to them to be set). Once they set it, Blue Nile will appraise it again themselves.

Alternatively, you can have Blue Nile set and appraise it, then bring it to an appraiser to have them appraise it set. I didn''t want to do that because I wanted someone to look at the diamond a little closer to make sure the cut was of the quality that the numbers indicated.
