There''s also a little backstory - originally I made the appointment for the trunk show to try on one dress in particular, only to come to find out that the dress is exclusive to Vera''s NY flagship boutique (I''m in CA)

However, the rep told me that the dress really did not translate well in real life, and that the reason it was exclusive was because they didn''t want to insult Vera by not producing it, but it really just wasn''t going to sell well because it didn''t look good on anybody! Hearing that whole explanation did make me feel a tiny bit better, and the dress I got definitely has the same feel as the elusive (and thus all the more desirable!) NY exclusive dress

GORGEOUS dress, jjc!!! Vera Wang is really incomparable. I remember seeing that dress in her runway collection and being just wowed by the design. You look just lovely in it!

Quick question - about the dress that is exclusive to NY, is it by any chance this one? It has a similar feel to your dress, so I was wondering if this is the one you''re talking about - if it is, I''ll be devastated because I adore it and would like to get the chance to at least look at it! I''m in CA like you, which is why I''m worried!

mayachel - Thank you! Funny how that works out, I was kinda aiming for the least princess-y thing I could find, and then found a dress that was so perfect that I accepted how girly it also happens to be

blueberrydot - No, that isn't the NY exclusive. I saw the dress you linked at the trunk show, it's gorge, but I think it's better in theory than it is in reality. Don't get me wrong, the dress I first fell in love with had that exact draped organza, but the dress you linked, with the entire full skirt covered in it, was waaaaaay too voluminous, in a kinda awkward way IMO. But also keep in mind that I'm short (5'4"), and so my perception could be skewed in picturing myself in it, KWIM? I'm not sure why you wanna see ANY dress though, considering you have that beautiful Monique Lhuillier already!! Are you thinking of getting another dress??

haha, I most likely will stick with my ML because I absolutely ADORE it, and I doubt any other dress could change my mind, but my mom still wants to take me for the "dress shopping experience" after I get engaged because she''s a little sad she missed out on that. If I knew I would be buying a dress when I did, I would have brought her along but I totally didn''t expect to buy a dress that day! I still have half my dress budget left over since I got such a great deal on the ML, so I''m not TOTALLY ruling out being a two dress bride

. I''m sure I''ll probably end up putting the rest of my dress money towards my wedding budget, but it will be fun to look - again!

My mom was very adamant about having the 'dress shopping experience' too. You should def go look at it and try it on, it could totally work for you! Although your ML is also really gorgeous. I went and looked up your old thread - did you ever get full-length pics of you in it?

I finally tracked down some pictures of the dress online (I was looking for the wrong season - oops!

), and I'm so glad I did. The crappy iphone pictures of the war-worn dress were making me think I'd made a mistake! And of course the fact that the picture is of the dress on a model doesn't hurt
