I don't know how to go about selling this diamond tennis bracelet

When I was 16 years old, I went to this upscale mall with a friend. I found this bracelet on the parking garage floor. I assumed it was costume jewelry and did not have the sense to turn it into lost and found. A 16 year old should know better.
I never wore it because it doesn't fit my wrist, and I am not a big diamond person. Anyhow 10 years later, I took a loupe to it and saw it was marked with a 18. A jeweler said that the diamonds were real and it was 18k. I think it is 7.25in long.
I sit on it for another 10 years. Gold prices are high and I want to fund color stone adventures. I know I need it officially appraised. Will I extremely low balled if I sell to a jeweler? Thank you in advance!20210302_165210.jpg20210302_165151.jpg20210302_165053.jpg

Laura, are you in the US? If so, why don't you consider consigning it with The Real Real. You can send them pics and they give you a range of how much they think they can sell it for before you even send it in.

Thank you so much!! I am in the US.

Ohhh pretty! Is it white gold (looks like it in the pics!) I’m definitely interested in it :kiss2:

Yes white gold. I have some basic knowledge on colored stones, but not diamonds. I can't even tell you how white they are or how clean they are. The bracelet does have a nice weight. There may be scuffs from when it was dropped in the parking lot. I did find a jeweler who will appraise it for $50.

The real real means business. They just called me. They said 70% commission for pieces over 1K. They did agree to a virtual estimate of price.

Please keep me in mind! I’m calling DIBS! Lol

If you decide to sell, I’m definitely interested as well!

If you take it to an appraiser be sure to ask realistically on the second hand market about how much can you get for it?
You do not want a blown-up insurance evaluation!

That's awesome that people here want it!! Makes me a little sad that it has been unloved for 20 years. It is just not my style at all. I will get free knowledge from the real real. Then I will get a formal appraisal so you know exactly what it is.

Good advice!

Very pretty! Are those baguettes between the rounds?

That's a gorgeous bracelet! I'm interested too, but I'm pretty far down the line. lol

I found my calipers. The round diamonds are about 3mm and the baguettes are about 3x2mm. Using charts off the internet, diamond carat weight is about 3.9ct. I couldn't find my loupe. I was unable to find inclusions without magnification. seems to be near colorless. I put it up to white zircon for comparison.16147500077632673036711512970038.jpg

It's a very pretty piece. I'm interested as well.

Since there is so much interest here, I will post it for sale on loupetroop and not do consignment. I need to figure out what it is worth. This weekend I will get it some official papers. I will get it polished and beautified if it needs it. I am new to PS. My rock is newly shiny. Is there a dibs culture here?
As I am meticulously measuring it and loving on it, I am seeing how special it is. It just is not my style at all.

I am interested as well!

The real real told me they would list it between $2900 and $4100 depending on the quality and size of the diamonds. The woman was very nice, but someone here will get this bracelet :). 20210304_100651.jpg20210304_100758.jpg

Jeweler will do appraisal tomorrow. I was checking my email all day then just called. I had an irrational fear that the diamonds wouldn't be real, but they are. I overestimated the carat weight. I think he said 2.75 cts.

The jeweler finally got back to me. Diamonds are SI1 G-H. Insurance estimate is $6250.
Loupetroop is down. Please **edited by moderator, please read our policies** if interested to discuss price. I had wanted to polish and beautify, but this jeweler moves like molasses. I have had to call daily. I just want to bring it home. I gave him a simple silver solder project that is now slated to be finished in two weeks because he only touches silver once per week. Did you ask him what it was worth (or what you might get for it) on the second-hand market?

He said $4000 on the lower range which I disagree with. That sounds more new retail to me. Hopefully The Real Real will be getting back to me soon with an updated estimate. I think it is probably more so $3000 to $3400 range, but I still don't know for sure. The diamonds are SI1 and I overestimated the carat weight.

So sorry! I am new to this. LT is down, so I will need to come up with a better plan B

There is something wrong with the Diamond Bistro site. I tried with two emails, but never received a confirmation. Poshmark has a 20% fee. Mercari is much cheaper, but fine jewelry does not appear to be sold there. My bracelet does not meet criteria for Etsy if I read it correctly. Thus I am selling on the scary world of ebay. The Real Real quoted me a new range of 2600-3600. I don't understand why they have a thousand dollar range after a thorough appraisal. The jeweler did excellent work on my side job and cleaned everything very nicely.

So keeping in mind the Ebay fees and potential offers, I am starting with $3500. Sorry again for breaking PS rules. =/
