Hee hee, I own the first one Mara posted...that blue topaz ring, and I LOOOOOOVE it. Even with my pricier babbles, I still wear it, because it's so clean and simple looking!

Again, not sure of your budget, but here in NYC they have some serious bargain rings at a jeweler I go to CONSTANTLY to pick through some of their stuff. The quality is similar to overstock, so it's lighter weight and usually yellow 18K or White 18 to 14K. Rings can go as cheap as $100, and sometimes as much as $500 (with more diamonds)

Not sure if they have an online presence, but they ARE a deal jeweler! I got a ring set for my friend's mom (her budget was $350) and let me tell you, the set was AWESOME for $240! I bargained...) I'll try and find a picture I had taken!

Ahh... here it is. All for $240! Not a bad deal!!!

*bowing* thank you...seriously, it CAN be found for less than $200!!! Even $150 is a good budget!

F&I, I think you look for the negative in almost every post. ----------------

Then hit the ignore button. And, clearly you know *nothing* about me. I guess thinking that someone who is in your family who would steal something as precious as an engagment ring isn't worth having around is negative. Go figure. I thought it was common sense.

Sumi & lovemysparkles, there is nothing wrong with words of encouragement as I am sure Lauren feels bad about her ring (in her heart she can take some comfort). And, she certainly deserves some kudos; but, it just seems like doing the "right thing" is considered rare these days. That was my point. I don't get why?

But, yes. Her choice showed much sacrifice & maturity. She saw a situation. Idenified the problem. Clearly handled her fiance gently. And, solved a problem with sacrifice. So, in that respect, she should be proud of herself.

And, I have no doubt that finger will not be naked for long. Resourceful mature people have a way of finding a way.

A lady with the name Pookarina is selling her size 6.5 Tiffany etoile ring. The platinum one is $650 plus postage and comes with the ring pouch and box. It's just polished so it looks like new. She also has one in gold too, I believe. It's $550 and a size 6.75, but it's 18K yellow gold since Tiff's doesn't carry white gold. I've been drooling over them but they aren't my size.

She posts here from time to time. You could send her a PM. I just thought of it since it was just your size.

Just in case you're interested, she posts here under the name Tessa here on this web site, but I haven't seen her post here in a while.

I've sent you a PM to see where you can read her listing. . .

You mean Tiff's doesn't sell the etoile in WG. I got nervous. I have a WG ring from Tiff's I would hate for it to be silver!
angryfire.gif

That's funny, they have lots of white gold rings in general, I wonder why not the etoile...

Also, with so many people trying to help you find a replacement ring, know that these are just suggestions, and NO ring is really necessary. It's IS about sacrifice in any good relationship. You just had to do it this time...

If that money is better spent on bills or something else, I am sure a ring will seem even better after saving up, and finally getting to your financial goals...

Like that juicy Jubilee pendant I am eyeing...

Pay bills first, save money THEN when you have some cushion...GO NUTS (within limits)!

Good luck and we are all rooting for you two down in Florida! Although I have to admit I am jealous of your Daytona Beach lifestyle to come...

Here is a very pretty amethyst ring that will look like a very nice temporary e-ring:
Amethyst ring on E-Bay
and it's only $100!
What I love about it is that it looks vintage and expensive!

Great find, choochoo...and Nicrez...back off that Jubilee G SI....that's my wannabe pendant!

Not like I can get it right this minute but yanno.

Love that ring Choo. Very nice find.

Yeah Choo Choo, that's a great ring, and I don't even LIKE antique looks! I love the price too!!
appl.gif
I am just always a bit wary of E-Bay, and so I suggest REALLY looking at the item and check their feedback as much as possible...and a leap of faith!

Mara I'll fight you for it online, but frankly my paychecks for the next few weeks are already spent on other things...Mother's Day, In-law's Birthday/visit, 3 friend's birthdays, and two engagements, my friend's new baby will be born any minute,, bills, bills, bills...

Maybe we can argue again next year, when it's feasible?

Hi, Lauren...I'm coming into this thread late.

How are you doing in your search for a white gold size 6.5 e-ring? Did you speak to Pookarina/Tessa? What is your budget NOW...for the one you will wear until after your fiance has established himself?

I would love to help you find the ring you want if I can be of any assistance. As some people here may know, my engagement ring cost very little. It consisted of two 1-point diamonds inside a gold oval "nest". (I will try to put the picture up.)

You don't need to have-and shouldn't have-a naked finger. You can find a beautiful ring you love...and still get a bigger solitaire one day.

What IS your dream ring (for the present) if you didn't get one from Pookarina/Tessa?

Thanks Nicrez and Wallace for the searching!!! I actually have been looking for a couple of weeks since I returned my ring, for some kind of replacement and actually the pink sapphire I posted is the only style I have seen that I really love! I really appreciate all the responses from everyone! Thanks again

One more question, Lauren. Did you write to ice.com to see where THEY got this ring and if you can get one from the same place they did if they no longer sell it?

Deborah

Lauren, Since you love this and ice.com still sells it...what is the problem? Did you just want to look more? (I also saw another pink ring there that looked great to me...but you said this is your style!)

Whoopsie. I forgot about the different name Pookarina had here. It gets so confusing....

I didn't know Tiffany's had white gold.
1.gif
It's not listed on the website under metals. When did this happen?

Nicrez is quite right. You don't *need* a ring. Get one when you're good and ready.

FUI: There is alot they offer that's NOT on the website. Like some rings come in silver that they don't state, some in platinum, etc. They just put the most POPULAR items on that site, and anything that doesn't sell as well, is available in stores only, or by special order from another store.

I like Tiffany's for a promise ring, as it has the name, and something in silver with gold accents can be as low as $125 or so. Makes it meaningful and the benefit of the name most people ooh and ahh over...

My promise ring is available in silver, although mine is white gold. At least I hope that's what 750 means!!!

This is the other pink ring I liked in the ice.com collection. There are at least two others in the collection, though, one of them an oval like the ring that was said to be on overstock.com.

I may not be remembering correctly, but I THINK 750 means 18k gold in the European system.

I am trying to post a larger photo of the second pink ring I liked on ice.com!

Deb

OK...this is the oval ring that looked to me like the ring from overstock.com.

The prices, by the way, are:

$195.00 for the first ring Lauren posted
$150.00 for the pink sapphire I posted first.
$195.00 for this, third, ring.

Deborah

ice.comring4.jpeg

I am SURE that this ring (from ice.com) is the same one being sold on overstock.com. It costs $169.00 (I don't know the shipping) on overstock.com, though, and $195.00 on ice.com. That's the only difference I can see!!!

Deborah

PS-I LOVE the pink sapphire solitaire in the 4-prong setting with the pavé diamond band. It looks like a "real" engagement ring to me! (Hey, the wives of the Windsor prices all have colored stones, not diamonds, as engagement rings!!!) I also like its proportions. I think it's a beautiful ring!!!

I decided to take a look at overstock.com with an eye to seeing if they had the square ring Lauren found on ice.com for less money. I didn't see it, but did see some amethysts and also this ring (which costs a bit more-over $200).

Deborah

I just love all the ideas here!
love.gif
It is true that there does not need to be a ring at all, but for me personally, some sort of small promise ring would make all the difference in the world. I don't think of myself as all that traditional or sentimental, but I would want a small token as a remembrance of getting engaged. A little ring from Tiffany would definitely do the trick. I'm sure you can find something lovely for a very limited budget.

$64,000 question. I'm almost SURE it used to be a $64,000 question!!!! (Maybe there was inflation?)

Deb ;-)

Actually, I think it's 64,000 when you pay by wire, and $65,000 when paying by credit card.

I looked it up. 24 karat gold is sometimes expressed as .999 (999 parts of 1,000 being gold). 18 karat gold is sometimes expressed as .750 (75% of the metal being gold). 14 karat gold is sometimes expressed as .585 (14 out of 24 parts of the metal being gold).

The jewelry I have bought in Italy is stamped "750". Since most Italian gold is 18k that makes sense. They probably don't produce much 14k to be stamped "585".

In the United States we use both 14k and 18k gold and thus see both stamped on jewelry.

Deborah, not getting into Asian jewelry ;-)

This has been a fun thread - seeing all the great economical rings out there.

I returned my solitaire briefly for re-sizing so I pulled out the ole promise ring. It was like an old friend! I am sure it cost a couple hundred bucks but I sure have loved that ring.

Now I just have to say that a boyfriend who spends all his money on a ring (as he is heading off to motorcycle school
21.gif
no less) is exactly the sort of guy I seem to fall for. (What is this thing about motorcycles???)

Anyway...

My BF came real close to doing something just as silly. He has this idea that it would be fun to go into Tiffany's and just cough up whatever they asked - just for the romance of the moment and, in his mind, a fabulous ring. Poor guy probably had no idea this would cost 10,000 or so. And he is the type - he would have just followed through and bought it.

In the process of getting officially engaged, I learned a lot about him!

And I love him even more than ever, but now I know to keep an eye out for these generous, but not entirely well-thought out impulses. (It's the thought that counts, honey
2.gif
)

Jeez, between us we will be supporting at least one college student until 2011!

No $10,000 rings!!!!
