Thank you PSers for your advice and your patience. I finally have a ring to share with you all. As you know, after learning and obsessing about everything I learned on PS I was dying to buy a ring from WF or JA. I was researching to no end. However, I was on a tight budget and was looking for a .5-.75 round center stone and as you all know I had my heart set on a bezel, low profile ring or a low profile bezel halo. Anyway....

Well, last month my husband and I went to a Gem and Jewelry show in our area. I found a vendor that had a low profile, three stone diamond ring. No paperwork. But, I just loved the way it looked on me. I was told the center stone was .62 and each side stone was .25 and they were K, VS2. Took a huge risk and my husband bought it for me.

Two weeks ago I took it to a highly respected local jeweler to have a it appraised (I was just more curious that we didn't get ripped off). He weighed the stones and they are a little smaller that what we were told. He said the center is a .59 and each side .20, which is okay by me. He gave them a G color rating, but an eye clean SI1. He said they were no way VS2. I asked him how much he would sell that particular ring for, because I still wanted to make sure we didn't get screwed. When he told me how much he would sell it for I was thrilled! We paid half of what the jeweler said, which he didn't know when I brought him the ring to look at.

On a bad note, the workmanship of the setting is awful. The prongs are thin and uneven. Meanwhile, I had some 22K gold jewelry on me that I was going to sell because I just don't wear them. When I told the jeweler he told me not to sell the gold. As of right now I'm having a brand new set made with the stones in the original three stone. He's going to melt down and reuse my gold to make me a bezel three stone ring AND a 4mm comfort fit wedding band with flush set diamonds (I had a pair of .25 tcw diamond earrings that he's going to use in the band along with a couple of tinier stones).

I'm beyond excited to see my new set and best of all this is all coming way under what I had budgeted for a half carat solitaire ring only. I can't wait. I didn't get the ideal stone, but who's going to know (I think I just wanted to impress you guys).

I've attached some pictures of the original ring and will post more pictures when my new set is done.

Thank you all so much!

Ditto!

And if you're happy (and really, that's all that ever matters), we're happy. ;)) :appl:

Other than the stability of the prongs, the ring looks lovely already! Can't wait to see the remodeled version :)

YG bezel 3-stone!!! EEEEK!!! I can't wait to see that although your set looks gorgeous as is now!

Add me to the list...impatiently waiting for the final product!

I'm sure she'll be a beauty!

What a beautiful set!! And a bargain--- gotta love that!

I think it looks GORGEOUS on your lovely slim fingers! I am excited to see your pics of the finished set!

Your new ring is beautiful and so is your wedding band. What a wonderful hubby you have and how exciting that your jeweler can use your gold for the new setting. It will be extra special to have it made of gold that has some special memories associated with it, your new rings will be all the more special:) :) :)

Warm regards, and happy blessings,
Patty

I think you have an awesome find! It sounds like you are going to have the perfect set. It is also great that you seem to have found a really honest jeweler. I love that he told you to keep your gold and he would use it to make your new ring. I can't wait to see the finished product. It is going to be gorgeous! Congratulations all the way around!

what a beautiful ring! love the nail polish :)

What a great story! The stones are lovely!

Congrats! I love a three stone in YG. So lush!

Wow, that's a very pretty ring!! Can't wait to see the new set!

It's gorgeous now, but I can't wait to see the finished set. How awesome that you get two spanky new rings for less than what you intended to spend initially, plus you get three diamonds instead of one! Win win! I adore yellow gold, and 3 stone RBs are my absolute favourite style of ring. Please post pics when you get your beautiful new set!!

Thanks Everyone! You all are the best! Hubby and I have been married 15 years and this is extra special. I love nice things, but I'm also frugal so getting a good deal is always a plus to me.

I'm a silver girl and originally just wore a 14K white gold wedding band. However, with my complexion I really like the yellow gold on me. So, went back to YG for this wedding yet. One week down, two more to go until I get my new set.

Question to the experts, is it worth it for me to shoot an email to the person we bought the ring from letting him know his stats were a little off? Or should I just leave it alone?

It's Sation Cotton Candy polish. My go to color. It's been discontinued, but I bought a bottle on Ebay and take it with me everytime I get a mani. I love it!

You've bought it and sent it off to be reworked and my first thought was, what would you gain at this point? Is he likely to offer you a reduction in price? Is it just as an FYI to him?

I don't think it would have any effect other than if you are looking for a slight rebate that it was not as advertised. Just have a clear outcome in your head, before you contact him... if you decide you ARE going to contact them.

More of an FYI. I'm not looking for any type of rebate. I got the confirmation I needed that we got a good deal. Overall, I'm happy with the outcome, so I think it's probably best to just leave it alone. Thanks for your feedback.

How exciting! I can't wait to see pictures of the completed set! :)
