I just watched "Runaway Jury" on TV last night , ha. I have always wanted to go as well.

Oh, I loved that book too! Runaway Jury was a great movie. A bit Hollywood, but still, awesome.

12 Angry Men is a classic. I love it. I have seen it a couple of times.

I always wonder what it''s like for people on a jury when a judge tells them to "forget" the evidence they just heard for some reason or other (didn''t that happen during the OJ child...I was 12 so I don''t remember exactly). How can you just "forget" evidence?

"Struck from the record."

Bah!

That''s all I have to say about that.

Luckily, it only happened once for us, and it really didn''t have an effect either way in the end. That''s all I remember about it.

I''ve only been eligible for 2 year and I''ve been called 3 times! Other people I know my age, most of them, actually, have never been called. They think I''m a freak for being called a billion times.

I never got chosen, though. They always seem to ask me if I am a student and what I study, and when I tell them politics/pre-law they dismiss me almost instantaneously. Like, gee, if I know anything about law I''ll see right through their fancy lawyer tricks. Sheesh. It''s been both sides, though, that have done that.

I''ve never had the opportunity to serve on a jury, and it''s pretty unlikely that I''ll get chosen even if I get called. Lawyers don''t usually like putting other lawyers on the jury, and during the school year my dean will write an excuse note if we get a summons. It makes me a little sad that I might not get to do my civic duty this way. Still, I''m kind of surprised I''ve never been called in the past, I''ve been eligible to sit for 8 years now and never a word. Watch, now that I''ve said that, something will come in the mail tomorrow. Hehe.

I hope you end up having a good experience, luckystar!

I had jury duty in November and I have to say it was one of the most emotionally difficult things I have been thru. I got picked to be a juror in a child molestation case and the case went on for a week - it was a he said, she said thing with no physical evidence and finally ended in a hung jury after days of deliberation. It was like being in that play "twelve angry men". I hope I never have to be on a jury again.

One thing that I should mention is that you may think you are going to have some sort of transcript to look at but the typing isn''t done that quickly and you end up going on your notes that you take while in the jury box. So be sure to take your own notes on every witness.
