It is med dark in tone, probably darker than ideal, but I tend to like my gemmies a little oversaturated.
Here it is with my other blues.

Last photos, thanks for looking! These are probably the most representative of color.
Don't know what I plan for it yet as I already have 2 blue spinel rings, lol.

I love the first set of pictures with that awesome pink flash but I guess it's not that light in tone after all. Do you see the pink flash in person? Can you make earrings with another blue spinel?

The pink flash is likely reflection off my burgundy robe, lol, and no it's not really as light in tone as the first set of photos would lead you to believe, which for me is fine as I like darker gems.

Haha, I probably could make earrings...except I don't wear earrings.

I thought of earrings too -- would be spectacular. It's a beauty, MTG, what blue riches you have!

Quick question: What's your favourite colour? Just off the top of your head. Don't think, just react... So??

Its a GoRGeoUS stone!!! Very nice - and love the red robe reflection. It has a different look than the others - nice choice!

Wow!! Love the color and the cut!

That color is so pretty!

<---------------- even more jealous that I didn't win it! (LOL) But happy for you - it looks great!

nice addition to your blue family!

Congratulations, MTG. Is it a color-shifter?

No the color is quite stable.
Barry just wrote me back to tell me I got the red spinel as well as the previous purchaser decided to return it. :)
If I keep it, I was thinking of maybe doing a 3 stone ring, though I don't know what the third stone would be... They are both 6mm. I was thinking maybe a slightly larger supernova stone that's purple?

2 stone bypass ring!

you could go patriotic with a red, white and blue ring. It's an election year after all.

hmm..any hand shots of bypass designs you know of?

Some on LOGR and Jbeg had a bypass antique mount for 2 rounds on her website. Daniel M has done at least one bypass setting.

I totally sympathize with your spinel addiction! This is my Roger Dery 1.66 ct Tanzanian cushion cut spinel. My oao helped me find an 18k wg setting with 1.06 cwt diamonds. size 6.5 It's a very dark blue and Roger's wonderful cut really caught me.

This picture is inside with a flash. dsc01355.jpg

The stone looks very pretty in overcast light and stunning in sunlight
