I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

Thank you Amy, Sharon, VRbeauty and HOT!! I appreciate your good wishes and healing dust! Thank you TooPatient- I am going to check out your link now.
Here is a pic I just snapped with my phone...doesn't do it justice of course but just in case you were curious.

I have a confession to make also VR..I also bought earrings from a B&M just today! It is my Valentine's Day gift from my sweetie to me. We had seen the earrings about a month ago in a neighborhood store that I really like (they have great jewelry but overpriced IMO) and I kept searching and couldn't find anything I liked as much. I checked out all the usual suspects-WF, JBEG, BGD etc but kept thinking about these so I purchased them this afternoon. They are champagne diamonds on the leverback and outlining the disc and white diamonds on the disc. Here are a few quick shots. VR-enjoy your new earrings! Would love to see them... :cheeky:

ETA: Thanks for the link TooPatient-it's the same link I printed out on Friday. I told my dh we will fly to FLA if necessary for that surgery. It's just that they only accept a few people so I am not sure we would be able to get him in but I will do my best to get him accepted if need be. It's so scary. :blackeye:

Missy --
Pretty earrings! The painting is pretty too. I love the blues/purples in it and can only imagine it is even better in person.
I hope your DH is doing well with all of his testing. Still sending lots of positive thoughts your direction!

Sterling --
Yay! Clean like new kitchen is wonderful. That grout can be a PAIN to deal with!

So...
Still no update on the baby and I don't know when we'll get to know anything new. Since my mom & her husband are splitting up, I don't know how many updates we'll get from that side of the family.
My mom saw the cardiologist this morning and something wasn't right with her EKG. They want her to do the treadmill again on Wed this week with another EKG and an ultrasound.

Thanks TooPatient. My dh is going through a battery of tests today. Any dust/good wishes is much appreciated.
And I'm sending dust your way too- hope your mom's tests go well and that everyone continues to get better!

I've had a couple of really weird days. First, my beautiful new (to me) Patek Philippe Nautilius watch got a huge scratch across the glass cover/ face... God knows from what, sob sob... ;( ;(

Now I have massive headache after getting "bitch-slapped" by the KAPAP instructor yesterday! It was only supposed to be a demonstration and a very light slap. Man, I hope I don't have permanent brain damage!! No wonder KAPAP is used by the Isreali Defence forces, their anti-terrorist units etc. Even the US Navy Seals are trained in arm combat by these "bad" dudes!!

Missey and TooPatient, thinking of you both. I'm very sorry you are both dealing with so much stress. Missey, you are bright and determined, I can see that from your posts, if there's somewhere your DH needs to be, you'll get him in if anyone can. Good luck with the results of the last round of tests.

STUPID USPS!!!! WHERE THE **** IS MY BLING!!!!

Sigh...

VR, I hope you enjoyed your birthday. Missy and TooPatient good luck to you and your loved ones. Phoenix, rarely do I laugh out loud after reading something but your "bitch-slapped" comment was funny!

How excited am I? We recently purchased a circa 1910 Victorian mahogany dining room table from a great American antique store in ATL. When we bought the table, DH became rather enthralled with a Morris chair they had. These are the ORIGINAL recliners- the backs have a metal rod and notches (rather like a deck chair) that allows the back to recline. It was very comfortable, but the finish didn't match our other wood tones. But man, did he want one. I was on their facebook page today and they'd posted a new Morris chair. It's a quarter saw oak, but a darker stain, victorian styling, circa 1910. I almost passed out. I sent a pic to DH and we stopped by later. And now we have a new chair. The cushions will be re-upholstered. The fabric they're currently done in doens't have nearly enough personality for me. I'm going by tomorrow to look at new options. I am really excited for DH! It's the ONE thing he wanted for our new place.

I love that chair! I hope you post pictures after you have it re-upholstered!

Updates --
My mom passed her tests! Not sure what the issue was with the first EKG or why the chest pains, but the 2nd EKG & ultrasound came out normal. Probably just stress since all that checks out okay. (which wouldn't be a shock given that she's almost 50, looking at her 2nd divorce, trying to decide what to do with a house neither can aford alone with a mortgage 80,000+ more than the value....)

Our dog had been looking a lot better, but she had another rough night. I suspect it is lung cancer (based on lumps and other things I've observed)...
We're taking her to the vet to get checked out this afternoon. I'm hoping it is just an infection and we can treat it.

I just discovered pricescope on tapatalk! Excited they added this feature. It will make browsing on the phone so much easier :)

What does that mean?

We're treating our dog for a severe ear infection. (not certain if it is bacterial or yeast since the tests came back strange, so they are treating both). She's getting pills every 12 hours and we'll start with a once a day cream in a few days. After a few weeks, they'll also start her with ear drops 3 times per day.

We'll also start her on thyroid medication next week. Her thyroid is not producing enough and needs to be supplemented. They need to see her every 3 weeks to get this adjusted correctly.

I'm terrified to see what these bills are going to add up to. Already about $400 just from the one visit last week. They need blood work every few weeks for the thyroid and ear swabs every 2 weeks for the ears.
We'll pay the bills and give her what she needs. That is what we are here for!

I'm just so happy she's healthy otherwise! Her heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, eyes, blood count, etc are great "for a dog her age" (which is to say amazing since I messed up her b-day on the vet records and she's actually 6 years older than they show).

ugh it is so expensive! Our dog has severe allergies and is on all different meds and special diet food. It adds up! We have VPI pet insurance to help defray costs...

TP - I hope you caught the ear infection in time. I waited too long to take one of my cats to the vet for an ear infection (also a strange yeasty thing) and he ended up losing his hearing. It was just heartbreaking to me, to see how much that affected his confidence and personality. Huggs, and best of luck to you and your pooch!

BTW my remaining cat has thyroid issues. It's expensive at first while they figure out the dosages, but the costs have settled down now that she only has to be tested every six months or so (sigh). I think the meds only run about $10 per month.

True confessions time -

I bought myself a pair of diamond stud earrings today - in a B&M store! I know I paid more than I would have paid had I worked with a PS vendor, but... it was my birthday, and I wanted to see what various sizes looked like on me, and have I mentioned that I have ADHD? Anyhow, I bought them from a small family business (that's been there for decades, literally) the diamonds are H&A ideals, and I asked them to change out the baskets for martini settings that they did not have in stock, so I won't have them in my ear lobes for another week or so.

And I should call it a day, but my PBS station is showing a BeeGees concert!

excited to see the earrings!

You're very sweet, Amy! I've been under the weather so I haven't picked them up yet... and I've never yet posted a picture here... but I'll let you know if I post these!

That is my worry too!
We've thought she had an ear infection but didn't realize how bad it was. From the time she gave any indication that anything wasn't right, we started using an ear rinse and then something a bit stronger. She responded some, but we were ready to take her to the vet for something a bit stronger. (her other strange behavior was the "official" reason for the visit, but that just happened to be when we were taking her in anyway)

After seeing what they swabbed from her ear, I think she may have had this for 6 months or more. We've had her to the groomers and they never mentioned any concern about her ears. She hadn't been scratching, rubbing, or anything else until just recently so I truly had no idea that anything was wrong. I feel awful. I should have known.

I know I can't kick myself for "could haves" and "should haves". We're treating her now.

Good to hear about the thyroid thing. My mom had cat with issues and she said it wasn't expensive, but we use different vets and that isn't always a good indicator. (hers charged $110 for spay, mine charged $600)
I can't wait to see her energy back again! It'll be worth every bit of expense and missed classes to get her feeling better.

What does that mean?

Tapatalk is a mobile forum application. It is easier to view and post than accessing from the web. No zooming required and you don't have to wait for the page to load as there are no graphics. Just text and avatars. You can see pics others post. It's pretty awesome. I have been using it for a year now on another forum.

I've got an economics mid-term tomorrow afternoon, statics midterm Wednesday early morning, physics midterm Wednesday afternoon and I just can't focus :nono:

I'm so worried about my sweet dog. She's been on meds since Thursday and had been looking so much healthier and full of energy. She had adjusted okay to both of the meds without any sort of tummy upset or anything else. We picked up her thyroid stuff today, but haven't started it yet. She's just looked SOoooo anxius all afternoon. I thought it was because her bed was in the wash, but it kept going after she got it back and got especially bad after the vet's office had closed for the night (of course  ). The emergency vet can't say much other than call our regular vet in the morning unless we think she got into chemicals or hurt herself (which she didn't). She's pacing around, panting & drooling with her ears back, head down, and tail almost between her legs. She's shaking and drooling big puddles everywhere. (This is her standard super scared behavior like she does for thunderstorms and fireworks).
She quits panting/pacing/drooling and perks up when I let her into the yard. I'm leaving her out there and keeping an eye on her because I just can't get her calmed down inside. I'm especially worried since she dug a hole next to the fence and has curled up in it!

I just don't know what else I can do for her tonight. I'll call the vet in the morning (assuming she doesn't get any worse tonight and we just take her in to the emergency people) and see what she suggests.

In the mean time, I've got three major exams coming up in the next 2 days and I just can't focus on my study. (I don't blame Sentra and I'll miss all of the class I need to in order to get her better... I just know that I should be studying instead of just sitting here worried.)

Good luck with everything!!

Thanks TooPatient. We are still waiting on the results of many of them believe it or not. Some of these blood results take so long! We saw the retinal specialist again this past Friday and everything was stable. Now we just have to wait and see if the bleeding/ clot in the back of his eye worsens and his vision gets worse or hopefully gets absorbed and it improves. Thanks for the dust and hugs!

I get that apparently having a crutch gets people interested in you, but what possesses people to ask somebody they've never met before what happened? Lady, we work in the same office. That's it. I'm not even particularly fond of telling people I *know* what happened, why do you think I'm going to spill my guts to you?

Probably 'cause most people are like my DH, who delighted in regaling all and sundry with the tale of the basketball adventure that broke his foot

When he dropped a bunch of textbooks and re-injured it he was notably discreet 8)

So, uh, I won't ask :cheeky:

A vacation week is coming up. Of COURSE you're going to get sick, Zoe, silly girl. Why even bother thinking you won't? :angryfire:

Aww, Zoe! Feel better!

Oh man. I am discovering that sometimes it's worth it to go over budget on something that makes you feel more gorgeous than you ever thought you could feel.

I am also discovering that when I get married, I am not allowed to even TOUCH a dress that's over budget. Because I will inevitably fall in love with it and then I'm screwed. Because then I'll have to have it. And that's just baaaaaaaaaad.
