So I spent several hours today adding stuff to our gift registries and I am now feeling greedy!
12.gif
We didn''t have enough stuff on our registries at all, mostly because I''m super picky and also because I''m slightly lazy. Plus my shower is next weekend so what I did register for was getting bought!

I am so excited at the prospect of all new stuff! I''ve been putting off buying nice kitchen and house stuff for forever because I knew we would get lots of it when we got married...and in less than 2 months I''ll be surrounded by new stuff!

What are you most excited about on your gift registries? I''m excited by all of it!

I''m so lame. I was really looking forward to getting a pot rack. I ended up using my gift certificates to get it. I was really shocked by people''s generosity in general.

Hahaha that is not lame! If all you''re registering for is house stuff, nothing''s going to be super exciting, right?

I''m not even that into kitchen stuff (my fiance is the one who cooks) but I am overly excited about all the Oxo kitchen utensils we registered for! We have like 15 of them on the registry!

Oh...that and the Snuggee! Yes I did register for a Snuggee! And I really hope someone gets it for me! (That one''s all me-my fiance had nothing to do with it!)

I was thrilled about all of the fun house and kitchen stuff we got for the wedding - I still use all of it, and I love it - there''s nothing wrong with being excited at all, IMO

Thing, I''ve been married 2 years and I still grin to myself when I cook or reach into the linen closet or make the bed - we have so many nice things that were so generously given that I would have NEVER bought for myself but had a blast registering for!! It is perfectly normal to feel just a little greedy and smug when you see those things get checked off the list!

Well, not to be a downer...but most people will give gifts for showers and money for weddings. So, it was a really good thing for all your registery things to be purchased.

Italia,

I think this depends a lot on what region of the country you are in. For example, I am from the South, and almost no one gives money for weddings. They will typically give more expensive registry gifts (china, crystal, etc.) because in a lot of the South it is considered tacky to give money (I am not saying it is tacky, just stating a fact based on my experience). DH is from the Northeast, and it is true that most people here give money for weddings. For our wedding, it was almost universal that we got registry or other gifts from my side of the family and friends and cash from his.

Yep, this is what''s going to happen for us! My mom''s side lives in Boston and they give checks. We live in the south, my dad''s side is from the midwest and my fiance''s side is from the south so we will get lots of presents off the registries...probably more presents than cash. I don''t discriminate, though-I like all types of presents!

Yay! I can''t wait to use it all, too! I''ll open up my cabinets and have beautiful new...everything!

Hahaha good...glad I''m normal!

I had my 2nd shower today and we got SO MUCH nice stuff!

I CANNOT WAIT to use my new sheets and towels...and this is really weird and only one person bought us stuff from this ''group'' but I REALLY WANT the stuff for my bathroom-i.e., waste basket, soap dispenser, accent towels, shower curtains...I''m actually going to buy it all with my money and gift cards tomorrow because I want it so bad!

So far, we''ve received only one check and a whole bunch of registry items as wedding gifts (about 1 month away now--woo hoo!). We''ve received crystal barware, stemware, our nice flatware, most of the stoneware and porcelain dishware we wanted, and our big pot set and knife set as wedding gifts. Our guests have been so sweet and generous! The presents are wonderful--it is such fun receiving the things that will make your house a home
1.gif
. Have fun getting an obscene number of packages over the coming weeks, Thing2!

I''m not having a registry so I''m just looking forward to anything! We already received some beautiful presents like waterford crystal wine glasses. Also I received the most amazing present from one of the women that I''m close to at work. She put this package together with lots of little pressies like blankets, bowls etc and I really appreciate it as she lost her husband last year and I know that things are very tight with money.

I have a very small registry because we live in a condo and neither of us have any Martha-Stewart inclinations when it comes to home decor, lol. Half our registry is electronics (hard drives, laser keyboards, adapters, etc), and the rest are kind of random knick knacks (like batteries and flashlights), lol. We''re boring. We can''t help it though, we just don''t get excited over dishes and towels, so we had a tough time registering since we figure we have all the stuff we need, and we don''t really want to get new things when the old things are working just fine.

What I am excited to get though: the stainless steel trashcans, and the paper shredder.

Am I lame or what?

Dude I hear you on the SS trash can. I want one SO badly, but they''re SO expensive!!! I didn''t register because I''m ashamed to ask for a super expensive trash can...it''s a trash can, I shouldn''t be so picky. LOL...

SO not lame (or at least, if you are, I am too...so...on second thought, yeah, I guess you probably are lame too, haha!)...

my aunt bought us our SS garbage can for our engagement gift! I laughed so hard when I got it--I totally wanted it but I never thought anyone would spend that much on a trash can!

I''m excited about the steel trashcans because 1) It''s bigger 2)It looks nice and 3)I like that it has a lid, lol.

But yeah, that and the paper shredder (because I really could use one) are what I''m looking forward to getting! I didn''t register for much, so hopefully some of our guests might pool together and get them for us (we registered for one big one for the kitchen, and 2 small ones for the bathrooms).

We live in the smallest apartment ever so, I''m not really excited for presents at all! We registered two weekends ago and someone already bought and sent us our stoneware. We weren''t even sure on it! Well, I better get cracking cause my shower invites are going out this week.

No shower for me, and likely no wedding presents per-se (cash instead)... but I hear ya on wanting a few goodies!!! There''s nothing wrong with it, at all! And actually, it makes me a little more excited to purchase wedding gifts for friends, family, and acquaintances....Just thinking that they''re really excited, and as a whole, and super appreciative. I know I''ve been thankful for anything that has come our way because of the wedding, and you ladies have expressed the same sentiment.

Its just a fun time, in general. like a birthday x 12! And house stuff is fun, too. I don''t care what any male fiance says
2.gif
I love sheets, duvet covers, pots, and can openers!!!

Ha, I love reading about everything people are excited about! Add me to the list of people who are stoked for a stainless steel garbage can. I also registered for 2 mini ones for the bathrooms!

Our wedding has come and gone but my two favorite registry gifts were the Keurig Coffee maker and the Rizo rice cooker-- it makes risotto without all the stirring! LOVE IT! The coffee maker is pretty sweet too. I have to make a conscious effort to stop myself from drinking java all day long...

Haha. I''m most excited about getting... wait for it... a food processor.

I know, I know, lame beyond all lameness. But I bake all the time, and the thought of no longer having to chop 2 cups of walnuts by hand for baklava or shred 4 cups of carrots on a busted-ass plastic box grater has me ecstatic.

(Yes, I could also just buy myself a food processor. But I live in a studio the size of a litterbox and can''t justify the space when I have two good hands, a knife, and a cutting board. Still, lo! happy day! when I get that food processor.)

I registered for a cuisinart and I''m looking forward to it as well! They''re great for making pie dough.

Wait, WHAT? You have to tell me how you make PIE DOUGH in your food processor!!!

I''m really looking forward to getting the Cuisinart food processor...right now I just have a mini one... and making my mom''s Thanksgiving stuffing will finally be possible with a big one! Also, charoset!! Also, anything!

I''m almost as excited about all of our sheets, and I really hope I get some of the crystal I registered for :)

I''ve never done it myself, but I''ve seen plenty of recipes online. You put the chilled butter, flour, and a pinch of salt (depending on your recipe) into the main processor, then add a trickle of ice water through the feeder tube until it comes together in a ball and can be rolled out for the crust.

Aaah, food processor, such a tool of wonderment you are.

Yup! That''s exactly how you do it. The magic is that because it goes so fast, the butter stays really cold. Cutting butter in by hand isn''t exactly a fast process.

My wedding was almost a year ago, my favorite present was a very pretty sofa for the living room that I was dreaming for a while

Actually just last night the hubs and I were joking that our poultry shears were our favorite gift!!! We use them almost every day and have become absolutely INDISPENSABLE in our kitchen!

Really though, my favorite gift has become our le creuset braiser. We use it as an everyday all-purpose pan, and it''s AWESOME. Cleans up so easily. I''ve never had nice cookware before!

I am super excited about our All Clad pots. FI and I are huge foodies and love to cook. We actually used a bunch of gift cards from my shower to buy the set (cheaper than each pot), but we are going to wait until the wedding to use them. But, I am still sooo excited to cook with them!
