OK...so the basic premise of this piece is not at all funny: a group inside the White House (White House Iraq Group or WHIG) conspiring to fool the American people, but I laughed outloud at this description.

"THERE hasn't been anything like it since Martha Stewart fended off questions about her stock-trading scandal by manically chopping cabbage on "The Early Show" on CBS. Last week the setting was 'Today' on NBC, where the image of President Bush manically hammering nails at a Habitat for Humanity construction site on the Gulf Coast was juggled with the sight of him trying to duck Matt Lauer's questions about Karl Rove.

As with Ms. Stewart, Mr. Bush's paroxysm of panic was must-see TV. 'The president was a blur of blinks, taps, jiggles, pivots and shifts,' Dana Milbank wrote in The Washington Post. Asked repeatedly about Mr. Rove's serial appearances before a Washington grand jury, the jittery Mr. Bush, for once bereft of a script, improvised a passable impersonation of Norman Bates being quizzed by the detective in 'Psycho'."

Everyone knows that Bush is not a good speaker. I would even tend to agree with everyone on that. I am sure that Bush was not hammering on a building and expecting a barage of questions from media that is dying to cook up another conspiracy. I personally, am not very good in person when I am on the spot. It is always afterward that I can think of exactly what I wanted to say and how I can say it. The media LOVES to potray Bush's hesitations and discomfort as a sure sign of his demonism. Personally I think it is crap. How about Bush was attempting to help with the Gulf Coast revitalization and a media reporter, dying for soe dirt, irrespective that it was not the time nor place, was asking him questions that he perhaps felt that it was better that he all his thoughts to gether BEFORE he gave her something to theorize with. I understand you laughed... I rolled my eyes.

We must, as usual, agree to disagree. I think the media is trying to "portray" (well, I would say, "report") not his demonism, but his stupidity. I do not happen to find learning disabilities at all funny, but there is a certain black humor in seeing a complete dumbell-not someone mentally retarded, mind you, but a man with no sense or judgement-who was elected President of the United States as he is in reality (i.e. without his script).

Well, at least, between us, we have found balance.

well considering id have used the hammer on the idiot reporters head I think he did pretty good.
Theere is a time and place for everything and that wasnt the time or the place.

He could have done what your hero did and had him arrested like billary did to the person who dared say "you suck" to him at a fund raiser.
You can bet your bottom dollar that the scum sucker reporter wouldnt have been bugging a demorat about it.

Oh, please. Get real. The Republicans get away with murder. They routinely use the media to tell lies. Like the swift Boat Veterans for Bush. The reason that Bill Clinton and Gary Hart got caught with women by the press while George W. did not was that the former two were public figures. George W. was a nobody, so the press weren''t watching him! He was in an alcoholic blackout carrying on with people he surely cannot even remember...but the press never went after him for that! He was never a public figure on the national scene. He is just a rich, frat boy who drank his worthless life away for years and then one day decided to be President. With daddy''s money and Karl Rove''s brain he just bought it.... That''s one good thing about deciding suddenly to be President and being able to buy it: no one has to know where you were for the first 50 years of your life. It was just as if all those years of drinking and philandering never happened.

That''s pretty offensive to me. You''re talking "facts"? No, just the media slant and liberal propoganda. How liberal of you. There has never been any real hint of the President with another woman. Sounds like you think all men do that. Does yours? What philandering are you talking about? George W. Bush was a successful business man and governor of Texas. What exactly have you done? Stupid people don''t go to ivy league schools and get elected multiple times to office. Too bad you believe everything the press and the democratic party say. The liberal media rarely targets democrats the way they target republicans. It''s amazing you "know" so much. Fat? Blackouts? Where did you get that from? If he was a democrat you''d be lauding him for turning his life around. You sound extremely bitter and I would dare say uninformed. Did you know Bill Clinton supports Louis Farakhan and Farrakhan has demonic rants about how the republicans and the government sabotated the levees in New Orleans? Not to mention how he''s been on a "UFO" with a dead Muslim propher? How is that the least bit "normal"? The President is a human being and you know what? Democrats and liberals are always saying how much "compassion" they have for people. I see nothing but anger, hatred and jealousy and it''s really pathetic.

WOW.. well made points Momoftwo.. remind me not to pi$$ you off!

Why on earth are you offended? Are you actually George Bush writing with the ID Momoftwo? (I'll have to go check that thread on how people chose their Pricescope IDs.) If so, I have some questions for you about how Halliburton got its contracts!

Actually, there have been, uh, "hints" of George W. Bush with another woman (women). There have also been "hints" that Laura Bush was going to leave him because of the drinking and the other women. You make quite a leap in asserting that because I believe George W. Bush did something that I think all men did something. If I think George Bush is President, do I think all men are President?

By the way, in this forum it isn't considered good form to get personal and ask me about my marriage. I will, therefore, refrain from asking about yours.

George W. Bush was the scion of a wealthy family; not an entrepreneur. Stupid people do go to Ivy League schools, especially when they are well-connected. And when you ask what I've done, what, exactly, do you mean?

(I think this woman's taking this very personal.)

One thing I never called Georgie was, "fat". I don't care what he looks like. I also don't know what the heck you are talking about!

PS-Why on earth would you assume I like Bill Clinton? Bill Clinton was no liberal! He was glad to cut programs for the poor to stay in "good" with his moderate base. You have to go a bit farther back in history to find a President I admired. Try Jimmy Carter!

What consistently blows my mind about the GW debate is that on one hand he is diabolically genius & on the other hand completely dim witted.

I think you misunderstand. He is never perceived as bright. He is regarded as a very dim bulb. On the other hand, he is seen as avaricious and concupiscent, the perfect tool for someone avaricious, ruthless, concupiscent, and bright...like Karl Rove.

Oh...and if you are giving out candy bars, Mine, I will take one. Only I don''t like nuts, so I would prefer something other than a snickers. Have any plain, dark chocolate?

Funny how Bush first said he would fire anyone involved in the Valarie Plame affair, but is now curiously quiet now that the evidence is pointing to his inner circle. Would that be considered FLIP FLOPPING?

you can''t blame Bush for getting a little uncomfortable, the republicans have been getting a LITTLE sloppy.
You know what they say, you can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time.

Well, I'm not sure I am witty, but I figured there would be more dialogue if at least one of us gave answers of more than one word.

i agree, momoftwo, this is exactly my response to your post. and it is very pathetic when in a political discussion it is found necessary to lash out re someone''s personal life and/or marriage.

i quit reading this thread about the time two of you decided to agree to disagree, which seemed like a good place to be....imagine my surpise to see how low this discussion had sunk: to the level of personal swipes.

deb, you have once again demonstrated your ability to use manners in a discussion brought low.

That was Mine and I who agreed to disagree, not Momoftwo and I. Mine and I always disagree, but she is a great mother who believes in good sportsmanship in soccer so I really do respect her. She is just totally misguided about politics. (Don't kill me, Mine! Storm says FAR worse about me here!!!! Just KIDDING!)

Thank you for your chastising MZ... Deb and I do disagree about many things and I am glad that you felt improtatn enough to step to be the hall moniter.

I also have great respect for Deb''s wealth of knowledge and her politics (although misguided )

I at no time have attacked her marriage life or personal life.. perhaps you should reread that. Neither have I felt self righteous enough to agree with her on everything. As I am sure that you seem to have the corner market on.

Deb and I banter, such is the way of politics, although we do not agree on everything, i consider her a wonderful person and have had many positive interactions with her. I do not need your condesending attitude or judgement on this one MZ. Personally, I think Deb''s swipes are just as low, just not as.... obviously put (as well as baiting.. I might add.) But when it comes to Deb, I do not take an offence as I am sure that she does not either.

Perhaps you should reread the post and figure out exactly what you are talking about BEFORE you decide to post... Sorry Mommy... I promise not to say something mean to the lady that baits me ever again... PPPPLLLEEEAAASSEEEE!!!

I have left my orginal thread to make a good point. I have attacked MZ with the thought that she was accusing me of something that was untrue. It is easy for all of us to misread and get up in a tuss... so when I am wrong.. I admit that I am wrong.

Thanks to Deb, I understand that I misunderstood what MZ was refereing to in her comments. In this post I am extending my apologies to MZ. So MZ, I apologize for my misunderstanding and accusing you of something that you do not say or reference. My sincerest apologizes!!

Funny you mentioned Godiva in political thread.
Not the chocolate, but Lady Godiva was riding her horse naked thru the market in exchange for lowering taxes for her husband''s peasants. In 11th century it was not the same.

just letting you know i am here

ok, Mine, i''ve now calmed down enough to applaud your stepping up to the plate so quickly and i thank you for the apology.
