I am completely ignorant pertaining to most colored gemstones, so I’m in need of experienced opinions and FACTS about Noble Beryl. I did read-up on it, but I know PSers have the edge & full-range knowledge about such things. I trust this community far more than Google...lol!!
There is a beautiful, uniquely cut Noble Beryl stone I am interested in purchasing for a potential pendant project, but I am totally CLUELESS about this gemstone, its quality in the gemstone world, it’s durability, and whether or not it’s worth pursuing.

I will share more about this stone, if anyone needs that info in order to answer any questions I may have.

Many thanks to any & all assistance, in advance!!

Origin: Volyn, Ukraine
Dimensions: 18.2 x 5.4 x 5.2

Some still photos taken from video:

I guess "Noble Beryl" is referring to green beryl? Beryl is fine for a pendant. The beryl in your post to my eyes is a very pale and watery olive-y green, and several of the photos seem to show the step-cut may give rise to window-y/leaky center? Unless the mine origin is critical and/or the color and/or the cut is particularly pleasing to your eye, FWIW to me it would be a pass.

The origin has no meaning to me. The fabled meaning of the stone, itself, is appealing to me, as well as the pale, soft tone of the stone. The fact that it is step cut, and bar-like in its cut makes it perfect for what I’m considering, as far as the setting.
I am not seeing the “window” effect in this stone, as it seems consistently light across the stone, but, again...what the hell do I know? lol!!

I appreciate the feedback. The price is quite enticing, and the color is very neutral, which would make it a more “every day wear” thing for me.

The size is a key factor. It will have presence.

HI, @Matthews1127
Does the vendor have a good return policy, and if so, is she/he overseas or here in the US, so a return wouldn't be a PIA (or is the stone so cheap that if you didn't like it, you wouldn't bother returning it to a vendor outside the US)?

I did a google search of "Noble Beryl" and the above site is the only one that pops up ... GIA has nothing re: "Noble Beryl." Also, the whole intro starting "They say ..." well, who says? If the stone term was legit, googling "Noble Beryl" would result in a return of hundreds of gem websites.

I did two more google searches re: "meaning of Beryl" and "significance of Beryl," and none of the top-listed mentioned "faithful love and good relations."

As to cut, Beryl gemstones often exhibit tilt windows, which window can only be see if the stone is turned a certain way. The photos you posted all seem to be face-up shots, and you can see right through to the background behind the gemstone. As the stone is not tilted in the photos, it isn't a tilt window, but instead a true window likely due to the incorrect placement/execution of the step facets ... i.e., you can see straight through the center of the stone in the face-up position.

If you're taken with the color/cut/story, that is cool - just be sure the price is relative to its quality, and that there's a return policy (unless it is so inexpensive you are willing to absorb the loss if it ends up not pleasing you IRL).

I haven’t gone this far, yet. I saw the stone, and came straight to PS. I don’t even want to contact the vendor until I know more about the stone, first.
If I decide to consider it, I will inquire more from the vendor. He is a gem cutter, and it appears he is located overseas. I found this on IG. DBL follows him, so, I’m wondering if this is a stone I can have sourced from DBL to make it less complicated???

I do see what you mean, after more closely examining the photos I took from video. It’s almost “culet-like”...
I will have to do more research on the “they say” fabled meaning. This mineral/gem does interest me. I believe I may keep looking, or reach out to this cutter or DBL (they follow him) to see if there is something better cut, and still reasonably priced.

Were I DBL, I wouldn't want to serve as the broker for an international transaction unless it were a rare and not inexpensive stone & you were willing to pay me a commission for the trouble of handling it for you :))

The stone depicted should not be a pricey or even moderately priced colored gem. Would you share the price with us?

I also, have never heard the term 'Noble Beryl' and that raises a flag for me.......... Vanadium Beryl would be my choice over the color, or lack thereof, that is in the 'Noble" gem. Are you buying it for color, or the characteristics in the seller's description?

“$123 + shipping”.
Another reason why I brought this HERE, first.
I understand your point about DBL being hesitant to work with a transaction like this. Of course, I’d want them to get a commission...but I’d want it to be worth their time & effort.

I loved the color, the cleanliness of the cut, the size & the steps.
However, the lack of saturation concerned me, and the price just seemed too good to be true...even for a gem stone.

I also have never heard of Noble Beryl and I consider myself a beryl lover (emeralds, aquamarines and morganite). If this beryl appears to be eye clean (more like an aqua), then its shape should not be a concern. If it were included (like an emerald), I would not advise a shape like this as it could shatter,
.
Also as you are new to CS, have you ever looked at tourmalines? This type of long narrow cut is often associated with tourmalines and tourmalines often come in eye-clean green shades as well. Just throwing this idea out there to expand the search.

I have not. This is valuable info!! Thank you!
I actually wasn’t searching, per se; this just popped up on my IG feed, and caught my eye. The next thing I knew, my head started racing with ideas...lol!
I have a strong desire to have a bar necklace, but I want something outside the box.
Our Anniversary is in Nov., and I’d love to have something “sensible” to celebrate it. I already have a diamond project going on, backstage, and DH has been extremely generous with diamonds, recently. I thought this would be something different, but just as special....with sentimental meaning...that won’t take funds away from my pending diamond project.
My heart’s desire is to have this particular project placed in the hands of Caysie at CvB_ID.
I want a durable, good quality, reasonably priced gemstone with great presence for this project. The color is subjective; I don’t have one in mind. I just want it to be neutral & soft/pastel; not heavily saturated, but well cut. Obviously, it must be step cut, and long...like a bar.
I want to set it in brushed WG or RG...or maybe even mixed. The stone itself will dictate that.
If the stone has a particular healing property, or significant meaning in a culture, that will only add, romantically, to the sentiment of this particular piece.

“$123 + shipping”.
$49.99, free shipping from Thailand, for a very comparable stone (plus a seemingly less muddy green, so more appealing to me personally):
https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-88-ct-BE...EN-NATURAL-BERYL-AQUAMARINE-3934/372423514166

I think long, narrow beryls typically fare best with a fancier cut. E.g.,
https://www.johndyergems.com/catalog_pages/gemstone-Beryl4547.html
https://gemfix.com/gems/aquamarine-508-opposed-bar-cut-weight-5-12-cts
But of course you may prefer a "cleaner" cut.

ETA: I now see that you want this pendant stone to be step-cut. It will not be easy to find a narrow rectangular, step-cut stone (especially beryl, for one) that does not suffer from an ordinary window & the low refractive index of the beryls means their tilt windows show up "sooner", i.e., with less of a tilt than is often the case with other colored stones. That may strike you as less problematic in a pendant than with a ring.

I LOVE the stone from Thailand! Would you consider this better cut? I love the color, and the steps seem more obvious to my eyes than the one I posted. The size is awesome, and the price tag is much better!!

Okay, I'll keep searching, but just in case it rings your bell ... The Gem Trader has this fine step-cut Tourmaline, running from light green to very pale green, 4.05ct Tourmaline @ $324 [... fwiw I have found Brad often is amenable to a short-term installment plan]

I'm not able to view the video, I think because I've purposefully disabled Flash in all 3 browsers that I use. So others will need to offer feedback on the cut based on the video + pics.

I love the tourmaline from Brad (The Gem Trader) that @marymm found!

The bicolor tourmaline has me salivating. I need to look into this...lol!
The perfect combo would be pale pink & near white in a step cut, long bar stone.
I’d really love to mix metals between WG & RG for this! That color combo in a stone would be perfect!

Noble beryl? That’s a new one. I have a green minty beryl in a modified shield cut that’s 3/5 carats. I know I paid under $100 for it.

What are you looking for? What colour? You need size too? Colour-wise, it’s nothing special, so it shouldn’t be priced high.

That’s really pretty!!! :love::love:
I also think that tourmaline from The Gem Trader would be very appropriate for your 10-year anniversary commemoration pendant because the color deepens, as your lives together as wife and husband have.

This is the best general example I can find to demonstrate my idea.
Instead of two metal bars, I want one bar to be metal, and the other, the gemstone.
