I NEED HELP...MUST STOP PS VISITS...

I need to stop PS visits for about a week (which will be exteremely difficult) b/c I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO far behind on all of my school work. I just read over my syllabi and realized I starte two projects wrong and three more are due by next week and yet I haven''t begun working on any of them. Normally, I am very anal about school work but I had a lot of family over this semester and my priorities were having fun instead of school. After the families left, we started talking about rings big time and so my addiction began to form to PS. Last week I didn''t do a STICH of hw, yet I spent countless hours reading PS posts, looking at dresses and daydreaming. I need your help. If you see me post - yell at me...tell me to go away - atleast till 4/4. Thanks for the help!

If you''re on a laptop, take it to a relatively busy part of the library or an academic building. If you have a desktop, go to a computer lab. You may be less likely to get on here or to look at dresses if there are people behind you who could be looking at your computer screen.

And if you''re reading this, GET OFF NOW!!

By the way, I just finished a paper and decided to give myself a little PS break before starting a take-home final, so I know where you''re coming from.

OK replying to your post seems silly since you shouldn''t be on here tsk tsk

, but I can totally relate! I was supposed to finish the draft of my lit review for my thesis last week while I was on spring break and had nothing else to do. I barely looked at it. And I have this project on my clinical rotation from Feb that I still haven''t done! GRAR it is so much easier and relaxing to be on PS or doing anything other than school! Too bad we dont all live in the same city, we could get together at the library and watch each other like hawks. Hmmmm maybe web cameras........

hey y''all! what finally helped me is i forced myself to stay off PS for a few days...and when I did go back on I realized it was more fun to read a bunch of the posts I had missed than to check it every day (or a few times per day!) and only read one new post. Does that make sense? I think I was wasting more time checking it frequently and only reading a couple new posts at a time- when you wait there is so much more to read- for some reason, for me, it was more fulfilling

haha, I had the same problem when I first found PS too... but it''s pretty easy for me to keep up with what''s going on these days without spending ALL day here, luckily!

Me too!! I definitely go through waves of PS checking. Sometimes I will be gone for days, weeks, months.. then won''t be able to stop checking 50 times a day.. It just depends on what I am doing. I find it much easier to lurk around PS when I should be doing something else (like right now I should be studying for my test tomorrow!!)

So I do make an effort to NOT spend too much time on here during the day....but it is so hard!

anyway I have three pages done for 1 seven page paper. I videotaped a lesson this morning that I have to write up & analyze. I started one of my other projects - so things are going well. I appreciate your support. I saw the GET off comment and I started laughing. YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!

THANKS...Okay, my time is up. If I make more progress tomorrow I''ll reward myself with a PS visit!

Rewarding yourself is always a very good way to go about it rather than complete abstinence! Good luck! TOnight is my one night off because Wed. is such a horribly long day! So for me its a drink, OS and some twizzlers for the rest of the evening.

YEAH!!!! I have two assignments done. I am finshing my case study this weekend and have another critique to do tomorrow. I still need to finish a semester long journal - that I HAVEN''T begun yet, but I can easily b.s. my way through that....

I think using ps as a treat is working! I haven''t gone online or watched tv except for potty breaks - so all is good so far. I hope that tomorrow''s critique goes as smoothly as today''s. Thanks for all of the encouragement!

I had to laugh when I saw this post-AMEN!!!! And I''m not even getting engaged-why am I here?!?

I was taking my qualifying exams last month and I had to make "deals" about how much PS time I could enjoy so I didn''t fail-hahaha (I did pass by the way, thank goodness!) And here I am tonight at some unholy hour, taking a break from writing a grant proposal.

What can I say? Diamonds are addictive!!! And, I must mention, even though many of you are "LIWs", for a single gal like me I love reading your stories because it reinstores my faith that there are many good men out there to be found if you''re patient!

Well...I finished my third critique, so now I''m caught up with one of my grad courses. I have one journal left for my Saturday class that is due in two weeks and I have my case study that I have to begin typing up due this Tuesday. THANK YOU once again for the support. I didn''t think I''d be able to stay away, but it seems to have worked. I was able to use PS as my treat and now I can peruse the posts that I haven''t been able to read/respond to since last night!

I hope you guys are working on getting your projects done. I figured it this way..once I get my work finished then I can day dream all day long about the ring and upcoming engagement. By the way, he''s mentioned a few things and I think it''s going to happen relatively soon..cross your fingers for me.

Congrats girl! I, on the otherhand woke up at 4:00 a.m. to finish my case study b/c my professor is stopping by my k class today to pick it up. OK, this is one of the reasons I couldn''t decide whether to keep on lurking or actually start posting... because PS could very easily turn into an obsession for me too! Glad to know there are other grad students on here trying to balance work and school and a million other things... I swear I had SO much more energy when I was an undergrad! I don''t know why I''m so anxious to get engaged when planning a wedding is just going to be one more thing to add to my to do list! Oh well... despite the craziness, it''s all worthwhile in the end, right?

Hey ladies thanks for the support. GUILT FREE is good for me! As for those of you who still have work to do - get to it. The sooner it''s done, the more time you''ll have for PS without the worry.

I agree about the energy loss w/grad school. When I was in undergrad, I took 15 credits, worked every night from 4 - 9, weekends from 9-6 and 12-5 and drove an hour to get home. I can''t even imagine that same schedule now. I only have 5 more courses to take till I''m done - and then I won''t be back in school for some time. Yippee!!!!

I''m a nerd, but studying rings is far better than studying pedagogy.
