I only like pastel (light toned) stones. Am I weird? Please show me your pastels!

I feel like the minority here who isn't into rich, deep or vivid colors. Not only do I like light tones, I also enjoy a bit of grey (my favourite color). Ice/steel blue? Lovely! Dusty pink? Perfection! The best part of this is.... lower competition? And sometimes lower prices ?

I'm currently obsessed with pastel purples like lilac, lavender and periwinkle. I had a laugh with my husband the other day because I saw a grading chart for tanzanite and I'm most drawn to the lowest quality ones, right at the bottom. He can't complain.

Are you a pastel lover too? Show me your pastel stones so I can oogle!

Hello, I'll take the light one, please!

I also love lighter colored stones - but i like ALL of them :)

lilac / periwinkle / pale blues are among my favorites - i love pale pinks, but they would just disappear on me

Ah, I’m the opposite! I like them rich and vivid but I did hear from my regular jeweler that actually pastels are really popular. I suppose from a color perspective I look awful in pastels hence my color preference. Does white/colorless count as pastels (and does jade count)? If so I can certainly contribute some =)2

I don't think white/colorless does but jade in pastel green, lavender, etc - yes!

I used to think dark, almost black color, was indicative of fine color. I finally realized that I didn’t like any of the gems I had because they lacked sparkle or color.

I am now truly a lover of pastel gems. Even grey gems stand out if pale enough and well cut.

Here are some of my favs.

I totally agree about grey gems. For example, well cut grey/silver spinels, even with no color saturation are swoon-worthy to me.

I love all of these but in particular the heart ring. What stone is that?

Thank you! It’s a mint garnet. The oval green stone at the top is a mint garnet as well.

I recently got a pastel sapphire and watermelon tourm set!

I really love it. Just wish it'd stop twisting around so I can't see it right!

I LOVE pastel gemstones..I recently purchased a silver spinel. I‘ve been looking for over a year..and just found one in the size I wanted. I’m happy that the colors I like are less expensive!

This is my lavender spinel.

This color is one of my faves at the moment, and the green accent stones are so interesting.

they are all gorgeous, but
can you give more details on the sapphire ring, please?
if you’ve got a thread with more pics of it - please point me the way
