I''m sure you''ve seen them. They are of women who are not "perfect".. they started with a gray haired woman.. a girl with tons of freckles.. etc.. but the new ones of are of women who don''t have perfect bodies.. I honestly don''t usually like ads like that.. like I didn''t like it when Jamie Lee curtis did that thing or whatever.. because I didn''t think she looked good. but these women look FANTASTIC. Most of them are a little bit chunky.. a couple have REALLY large chests.. one is really small chested.. one is pregnant.. And they are in thier undies and they look so beautiful. It really does make me less self-concious about my little lumps and bumps..
this is the only pic I can find online.. Its really small.. but you get the idea

They all look pretty good from what I can see here.

I don''t see a chunky one in the bunch!

wasn''t the dove commercial one of the tasks from "The Apprentice"... and i think they used everyday people as opposed to models...

Hmmm, I just wish they had gotten really radical. I would have liked, say, at least one acne sufferer, someone shorter than 4ft 10 and someone disabled. They just look like plus-sized models to me.

I remember a national photography award in the UK a few years ago awarded first prize to a female photographer whose depiction of beauty was a hand blotted with vitiligo. Now that was truly different (and beautiful).

I think chunky in a relative way...those ladies in the ad look pretty much "normal" as opposed to the skeletal types of women that advertisers usually use. Most women who are on TV, advertising, runway models, etc are not exactly "normal" in terms of their size and shape. They are usually very tall, thin, and kind of shapeless IMO. My husband calls women like that "human coathangers". So the ladies in the Dove ad would probably be considered chunky compared to those women. To me they all look great.

I read not long ago that the "average"american woman wears a size 12-14, is about 5''4-5''5 and weighs approximately 140 pounds. I''d have to say that sounds about right to me. Most of my friends and aquaintences fall pretty close to that range, give or take an inch or two either way in height, and 20 pounds or so either way weight-wise. I have NO idea about clothing size. My closet holds everything from size 8 to size 14, and it pretty much all fits. It depends on the brand, the cut, and the type of clothing as to the size I wear.

People come in all shapes and sizes, and I like to think that everyone is beautiful in his or her own way. Yay for the Dove ads!

I agree, I think the ads are great! The women look realistic and common. I can''t stand when I see ads for lotions being slathered on a gorgeous, tan, mile-long leg that leads up to an equally gorgeous face. I end up feeling pale in comparison and as a result, not eager to go by the product! I know that''s the opposite of what the marketing people are shooting for, but that''s what happens. I think this ad will make women appreciate Dove however, and next time they are at the store and see a dove lotion or whatever, they will think of the ad and feel good about themselves, maybe even buy the product

These women look real to me--not too skinny, not too fat...

http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.com is the website for this campaign.

They are "real women" .. none of them had ever done any modeling before. None of the photos are retouched.. they''re just by some really fantastic photographer that i''ve never heard of.. "Rankin"?

This particular ad that I am looking at is to promote thier skin firming lotion. They claim these women used it for three weeks.. so I don''t know they are trying to imply they look this good because of the product or what.. Honestly.. I thought about buying the product because of the ad! I am a thin person.. but I have problem areas.. and this really made me feel like I''m the only one who sees these problems.. You know.. how FI tells me all the time that I''m thin and blah blah.. but I still feel awful about my belly.. etc. etc.. these really made me feel better!

Cosmo this month has like a 5 page section of the ad.. this is the "cover image"
