but i am seriously considering ordering this wedding dress.... and i''m not even engaged! tell me i''m nuts.... and i''ll forget about it.....

but they''ve already sold out of a few sizes and the 6 is limited quantities (i know because i called yesterday)... and i can''t find it anywhere else (not even e-bay)

it would be perfect for my no-frills beach wedding.. it''s SILK SEERSUCKER for the love of pete!!! can you imagine how comfortable!!! UGH....

has anyone ordered a jcrew wedding dress? how do they fit?

OMG!!!! I LOVE IT! I adore seersucker it is fantastic and that dress is soo simple and sweet! OH!!! When will you get it?

I know you''re trying to get people to talk you out of it, but I might actually go ahead and get it if I were you. I love the dress, and it seems perfect for a low-key summer wedding. Also, it wouldn''t have to be one of those wedding dresses that is worn for one day and packed up afterwards indefinitely. I can easily see wearing that to a black tie summer event.

I know a guy whose wife found her dream wedding dress and bought it before he proposed, and he actually thought it was cute. So some people do it at least.

Order it!!! I mean, you know you'll honey will propose eventaully, right? So what's the harm???

I'd keep it on the downlow from him...just because guys are so weird.

ETA: It's beautiful by the way...perfect for a beach wedding.

order it. you love it. it''s not going to be around forever. and from your other posts that i''ve read you two are in the seriously going to get engaged phase of your relationship. it''s going to happen. order it.

i love that dress!

Well we''re all a lot of help in convincing you out of buying it

. I love the dress too, I think if the price tag is reasonable, (and is it refundable if it gets to you and you don''t like it?) then go for it. It does look perfect for a beach side wedding.

This is a beautiful dress. Honestly, very nice, subtle lines. Very flattering.

That''s a very pretty dress & would look lovely for a beach wedding. Back when I was dress shopping I ordered a couple of J Crew dresses to try for my beach wedding. (2 of the long ivory silk dresses) Personally, I wasn''t pleased with the fit--they seemed a bit nightgowny to me, but it was super easy to return them.

I agree that you should order the dress--all you''ve got to lose is the shipping cost if you wind up returning them! I didn''t know silk seersucker existed--how perfect!

I would also agree not to tell your bf that you bought your wedding dress already...

I love it! :-)

Have you two already talked about what kind of wedding you''ll have? I wanted a beach wedding, but after we discussed it, that wasn''t something he was into. Do your families get any say?

As long as you''re sure you''re having a beach wedding, go ahead and order it! Just maybe keep it at a friend''s house!

I am not engaged.

I have had my dress for two years.

I keep it in my father''s closet.

BUY IT!

you guys are awful/hilarious ;)

i told my friend about it last night and she said the reason bf is waiting so long to propose is because when he does i''ll have everything lined up for the next weekend to get married... i''m a bit of a nut when it comes to researching... and this little find may just set me back $600!

i also emailed it to my mom thinking she would just order it for me... no luck.. i guess she''s a bit more practical than i am...

how cute would a ribbon around waist look?... with a long single layer veil like this?.. ahhhhhhh i''m bad... and you gals aren''t helping (love it;) ----- next you''ll tell me i should most definitely go ahead and eat that delicious piece of dark chocolate sitting in my desk..... bad;)

awesome veil.jpg

You should go ahead and buy it, or you''d be sorry you didn''t! Just think, it would save an awful lot of hassle in the future

mmmmmmmmm Dark Chocolate

mmmmm dark chocolate! Go for it!!!

As for the dress, it is gorgeous and sounds perfect for the kind of wedding you want, and I really think you might regret it if you don''t buy it now!! I bought my dress a couple weeks ago and while I am already engaged, I ordered the dress a full FIFTEEN MONTHS before my wedding will be!!! I knew it SOUNDED silly but I just really had a moment with it where I knew that if for any reason I was unable to order it in a couple of months I would be heartbroken. I think you just need to figure out if you would be devastated if you didn''t find this EXACT dress available when you''re shopping post-engagement, or if you just found a style that you love.... If you think THIS is the one you need to have...then BUY IT NOW before it sells out!!!!

Don''t you totally want some dark chocolate now too??

Hands off it''s mine! I had more mmmmmm''s.

i just talked to my sister.. she''s totally trying to talk me out of it.... she said she would be really sad if they didn''t get to go wedding dress shopping with me (although i don''t want to tell them that i don''t want a "wedding dress") and i''m so fickle that i may change my mind in a couple of months.. i should call and see how long their return policy is....

you girls are hilarious....

by the way.. . i totally ate the chocolate.... AND some jelly beans.... TGIF!

so here are some pictures of other dresses i love... and my dream wedding location..
heaven!

i just can''t get this out of my head

SILK SEERSUCKER!!!

vizsla idea.jpg

i should mention that these other dresses are wayyyyyyyyy more expensive than the j crew one... the second dress is my girl monique (yeah, we''re on a first name basis ;) .... darn my bargain shopper ways...

Ahhhhh that first one (that appears to have a hoop underneath) is adorable. I wish I were "cute" enough to pull that off. What am I talking about? I have a dress. Dark. Chocolate.

Sorry, I''m yet another one who isn''t any help in talking you out of it

I bought my dress before I was engaged, because I saw it and knew it was The One, and I also knew that my wedding would be a rush after the proposal so I wasn''t sure I''d have time to even order a dress.

I know of at least two other women who bought their dress pre-engagement; each of us thought we were unique and insane until we found out the others had done the same thing.

Silk seersucker is way too yummy to pass up, and that dress is to die for. It''s one of the nicest I''ve ever seen on this forum. The veil with it is just perfection.

Don''t let this baby get away. Get ordering right now!

See, I said I was no help

AHHH it''s in my cart..........

Vizsla- did you get it?! I think it is perfect for a beach wedding! And I just love my PS gals... you all make me feel totally normal for checking ebay auctions all the time for my dream dresses!

Hey, there''s been a lot of action in here this morning!

I think you should buy it too! If you''re really sure you''ll have a beach wedding, that it!

BUY BUY BUY BUY!!!!

Yeah, like we were going to try talking you out of it.

I''ve been eyeing the jcrew wedding dresses as well since they strike a nice balance between still being a wedding dress and not looking like a fussy wedding dress. (The shiny white whale syndrome). I''m also going to have a beach wedding, and so many dresses are just overdone, IMHO, for that setting. The silk seersucker is totally the perfect dress for the beach. Unfortunately I personally look like a line backer in a strapless dress, so at least a fellow LIW should have the chance to wear it and look beautiful!. Plus the jcrew dresses look to be great quality for the price.

There''s supposed to be a v-neck linen wedding dress with shell beading coming out in April.. (I think). I''m interested in seeing that one a bit closer.

OMG that JCrew dress is unbelievable!! I have an idea....buy the dress, and if you happen to fall in love with another later, you can still keep it and use it: just hem the JCrew dress at the knee and wear it at your rehearsal dinner, your reception, or some other post-wedding event!
2.gif

haha it's very pretty...i do think that buying a dress when you are not even engaged is just a little 'insert tweeting birds here', but i know gals definitely do it, i just would not have wanted to 'jinx' it but that's just silly ole me!! if you know he's gonna do it, then why not, it sounds reasonable too and it's a beautiful dress and would look GREAT with a floor length single layer veil, i wore one with a simple sheath and it was great for my hawaii wedding!

if you can return it, why not?
2.gif

you guys are bad, bad, bad.... i love it .. because this means i''m not totally crazy for thinking about this!

ok.. i have 60 days to return it for a full refund.... who knows.... i might have a sparkly on my finger by then ;)

a girl at work told me she thought it would be bad luck.....

agggggggggg......

11.gif

crap.... there had to be one voice of reason ;)

well two considering the girl at work said the same thing!
9.gif

not everyone is silly like that but i would have been afraid i'd jinx it or it's bad luck or something. i am not even really superstitious but when it comes to things like forever marriage, better safe than sorry
40.gif
??

but i do think you should eat the chocolate.
9.gif

will you kick yourself forever if you don't get it or it sells out? if so, then get it, you have 60 days! don't call it a wedding dress...maybe that will help.
