I feel like an idiot.
So I put that wedding set on craigslist this past thursday. Friday morning I get an email from a person who is interested, but is heading out of town that night and can only meet on Sunday (today). He asks me a million questions and has me sent him a million photos.
Friday NIGHT I get an email from someone else asking me if the "item" is still for sale. I write back and say "As of right now, yes".
I don''t immediately hear back from this person.
I mean up with the first potential buyer today. He and his fiance look at the rings and say that they would like to think about it for a day. I don''t think they are going to buy them.
I get home tonight and I finally hear back from the other potential buyer. All the email says is, "How much is the cost of the item? and please notify me with your paypal account immediately so I can make the payment."
Without even blinking an eye I write back, "The rings are _____ and you can find me on paypal by searching my email address which is _____________. "
For the record, this person already had my email address since this was my second email to them.
So anyway....only AFTER I send the email do I stop and say DUHHHHHHHHHH.
This person doesn''t know my name, hasn''t told me their name, didn''t request any addition information on the rings, apparently doesn''t even care if they''re real, didn''t even say the word "ring" in either email, didn''t want to haggle, and wants my information "immediately"....no information on where to meet up or where to send it or anything.
DUH. DUH. DUH!!!!!! Duh!
So now I don''t know what my next step is. I can''t find anything on this type of scam. I still have the rings, obviously. And I don''t have any money in my paypal account that they can steal. Can they even hack my paypal account with just my email?
I''m assuming I''m going to get a fake payment or something. But right now I''m just worried about my paypal account since all of my bank information is in there.
