I'm working with a jeweler to create my setting and I am looking around for inspiration to give her a clear direction. My girlfriend is not much for wearing rings, so I don't really have her perspective to go on.
My stone will be 0.7-0.8c ideal cut round stone and I have decided on a bezel setting. I'm not a big fan of the "traditional" bezel setting where the main stone is surrounded by small stones. I don't want to crowd the main stone, but really want to highlight it (especially since I'm going for ideal cut). Also her sister in-law has one of those classic designs and I want something different
This is one that really caught my eye and the more I look at it the more I love it: http://www.ritani.com/engagement-rings/solitaire-semi-bezel-set-diamond-engagement-ring-in-platinum/6321
It seems original but not too freaky and has classic understatement to it. Also it will let in a lot of light on the sides which really works with my selection of an ideal cut. I may consider side stones but even that may ruin the look.
So... any opinions, ideas, alternatives...?
