I couldn't find you on DB! :(

Okay, well this is how a lot of the LIWs found each other the last go-around. I just "liked" Pricescope's Facebook page's most recent post about the Career Fair at GIA. I'm the one with two first names and initials as a "last name".

(For anyone else lurking, feel free to message me too ::))

SPBC...did you figure it out?

Thanks, Audball! I didn't notice those buttons until you pointed them out. I did subscribe to this topic, so hopefully I'll get those email updates.

Madelise: I was able to find you on Facebook and meant to send you a message, but the week got crazy towards the end. You will hear from me soon!

I also have an exciting update: Nick and I spent the weekend in NYC to celebrate our one year anniversary. We had a great time catching up with some of my old friends, seeing city sights, and catching a Broadway show. On Saturday night he "pre-proposed," saying he is officially on board with finding a ring together, as soon as possible. He wrote me the sweetest anniversary card, and gave me a beautiful heart paper weight from the same glass company that we went on a glass blowing date for. We're planning another day trip back to NYC in October to look at some diamonds and settings in person. It was the best weekend ever.

YIPPEE!!! That does sound like a fantastic w/e - especially with the plans to return to NYC and diamond hunt!!! Fantastic news, SPBC!!! I'm so happy for you - woo hoo!!!

Now, what show did you see and where did you stay and what touristy suggestions could you share?? :naughty:

What, where can I go on a glass blowing date! That sounds so fun!

yay sweetpea!!!! that sounds SO exciting!! especially with the future return trip!!! oh and happy anniversary!!!

did you make anything on your glass-blowing date?? they offered that class at my undergrad but I never had the time to take it because it was a couple hours every single day. I am so so excited for you!! I hope you find the rest of us soon...we are *great* influences hehehe ;))

Thank you everyone! I'm so excited to start this journey with him, rather than lurking on my own :) His patience is short with shopping, so I have to feed little bits to him at a time, but I'm still looking forward to it!

As for NYC, I would highly recommend at least catching a show on the Broadway stage. There are several TKTS booths around the city that will sell same day and Sunday matinee tickets at half price. We saw Evita and Ricky Martin was performing that night, and he was amazing! We also spent some time at the 9/11 Memorial which I would recommend seeing as well. It's still under massive construction but there is just something about being there. We also went to the Natural History Museum because the nerd inside me will not leave NYC without going to a museum. The South Street Seaport is also a nice place to walk around and get some nice pictures.

As for glassblowing, Nick and I live near the Boston area, and there is a glass blowing company called Luke Adams Glass. They offered a groupon deal for a glassblowing class, which we took full advantage of. And we each were able to make something: Nick made the blue bowl, and I made the green vase which I gave to my mom (they don't come out perfect, as evidenced by the lop-sidedness of my vase). I'm sure there are lots of glass companies around the country that offer something similar, and it's totally worth trying out! We had a great time, and we plan on going again sometime.

WOW!! you each made those??? holy cow - that's VERY impressive!! I love the colour on the green vase --- will you go back and make more?? I love that one!!

dude those are amazing!!!! lopsided or not!! I will have to try and see if there's anything similar in my area...that is way too cool!! love the color on the vase you gave your mom. does she use it at all?

Oh wow love the glass blowing...i live pretty close to beantown...i think i will have to check out that glass blowing if i can find the time!!!

It is a lot of fun, and the folks there help you with a lot of it. I can't recommend it highly enough. They do a lot more more of the dangerous and intricate parts of the process, but you definitely do your fair share of producing the product.

Pandabee: my mom loves it, but I'm not sure if she has used it yet. She doesn't buy flowers for herself, but she's really into glasswork, ceramics, etc for decorative purposes.

Luke Adams Glass is in Norwood right off 95S! My SO lives in Dedham, and it's literally a 10 min drive from his place.
