Update:

BAD/GOOD news is that I''m getting slightly better. Good cuz I''m getting beter, bad cuz this might be a sign that Chewy was a problem.

GOOD/GOOD new is that quite a few other people around me are sick or are getting sick or are having asthma flare-ups too which means I may just be sick and Chewy is not a problem!

CHEWY news -- he''s is having a fabulous time with two dogs he''s staying with, apparently terrorizing them by humping tails, necks, whatever body parts he can get a hold of. Mind you he is less than 3 moths old and the two dogs are 25x his size. Makes for quite a picture yes? He has also gone duck chasing in their back yard and gave me friend a near heart attack when he decided he was going to have his first swim in a lake on her watch. They have a lake in their back yard and a duck wandered in. At first Chewy didn''t seem to notice. THen he Stopped, looked up and stood still. THirty seconds later alitle black streak going for the duck. Everyone was laughing saying, oh look, Chewy will keep the yard duck free! But then the duck takes off for the lake. THey all panic and yell CHEWY STOP!" He stops right at the edge. Evryone breathed a sigh of relief and start towards him to go and get him. At that point he had screwed up his nerve I gues and jumps in and started swimming towards the duck. My friend''s cousin had to jump in and grab him before he got too far out.

I believe chewy is having the time of his life

Id din''t even know he could swim. And judging by his reaction to baths, I didn''t think he would swim by choice. LOL. My little terror!

LOL..i don''t think he misses me at all! Which makes me happy that he''s happy, but still a tiny bit sad, lol.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice. I''ll definitely let ya''ll know how it all turns out. Thanks for letting me talk about him here. We miss him dearly. For a little 2lber12ozer, he sure took up a lot of space, cuz the house feels empty without him

I haven't read this whole thread but...

Chewy is a hair dog. You aren't allergic to the hair on your head are you? Nope.
I suggest you give him a bath in some hypo-allergenic puppy shampoo and see if you feel better.
If you're not having seasonal allergies, or aren't just plan sick, you might be allergic to whatever he was previously bathed with (Shampoo and Conditioner) - or to dirt/pollen/allergens he's picked up. As long as you keep him clean I really don't think you'll have a problem.

I have a poodle (another hair dog) and severe allergies. He gets bathed every two weeks and sleeps in my bedroom - and it doesn't bother me.

Oh* Ginger more pics of Chewy are always appreciated : )
I'm sure we'd all love to see the little guy grow up.

Scintillating...

Ginger, I feel for you.

I also have BAD allergies, including allergies to dogs and cats, but am still hoping that hypo-alergetic dogs (with hair) will not be a problem. I have been wanting a dog since I was very little and now that I can get one on my own, my allergies are getting in the way.

I''m afraid to be in your sitation: buying a puppy and not being able to be around it.

Hopefully its just a seasonal thing or something and your puppy is not the cause.

Have you noticed if your reaction is better when you are outside without the dog? If it is your puppy, one way you can minimize the reaction is buy cleaning your hands after you touch it. I know, sounds annyoing but it works very well for me and my ferrets which I am allergic to also.

Ginger, Scint said what I was thinking the other night but forgot to write...

You mentioned that this cough started what about a week or so ago..but Chewy has been with you guys for a month. Also, you mentioned that you are getting a little better now that he is gone but not entirely. Anyway it sounds to me like it could be a combo of things going on, we noticed the other day that P is dropping more hair than usual so maybe she's in her yearly 'molting' stage, I know the pollen is horrible, and I have a cold too, don't forget stress.

But I thought, what about his shampoo? Or something that you gave him or used on him that maybe could have been causing your allergic reaction to him? Just a thought. Lotion or a new spray or something? A spray in the house for dog pee?

Anyway, I hope things will be alright and if you are in fact allergic-ish but not horribly allergic, by doing the things you mentioned re: filters and the hair and all that hopefully it will be better. Keep us posted and it's good to hear he's doing fab.

Oh and Kaled...you should be around a puppy or dogs at friends houses (those types of dogs with hair) and see how your allergies are. Mine with cats manifest within 30 minutes of being in the same room with cats or in one of their fave rooms and rapidly progress from there to sneezing, runny nose, coughing, watery itchy eyes, congestion, it takes me 45 minutes after we leave to feel like it's gone. But taking a pill helps immensely.

Adding to what Mara said, think if you recently changed the fabric softner, detergent or etc recently. I know I get so bad when I am around fabricks that have "Snuggles" fabric softner on them that I practically stop being able to breath b/c my throat closes up.

Mara, my friend has a Yorki so I may come over her house and spend a day there to see my reaction. I know with cats and non-hypo alergetic dogs it generally takes me about 10-20 minutes to show symptoms. Funny that I only developed this over the past 4 years.
