Fancy rodents & rings... Super cute! And yeah, you'll have to take pics with your pets.

Question for Squee, do your cats ever bother your hamsters? It seems to me that having both is a dangerous combination.

lliang_chi - I was actually scared at first that they would, but they really don''t. The way I have it set up is that I have this bookshelf thing that is just ever so slightly wider than the glass tanks I keep my hammies in. I just slide each tank in one of the shelves, and there isn''t enough clearance on the top that the kitties could get their grubby paws in there. Also, I have weird cats. They don''t really jump any higher than like 2 feet. Don''t ask me why. So, being that the bookcase is relatively high, they don''t bother it. The most they''ll do is hang out on the couch and watch the hamsters lazily, as if they were watching a boring reality show.

I can take the hamsters out and handle them, and the cats don''t come over and try anything. They don''t really care much, to be honest. The only thing I do is when I take them out and put them in those plastic ball things to run around, I''ll lock the cats in the bedroom for a short time so that they don''t bother them. That''s about it though. I wouldn''t trust them enough to drop the hamsters on the floor and let them run around with the cats in the room, but other than that, they''re good. I wish it was like this hamster and kitty love! I''ve never seen anything like this! The hamster looks just like one of mine!

Squee--I have to warn you they are SUPER fast. They haul @$$ BIG TIME, like at least twice as fast as my Campbells. And they can jump. They share a 10 gallon tank (for the moment) and they try to leap up the sides all the time. If they had more room to get a running start...They are also highly excitable and skittish. It took me about 2-3 months to even be able to pick them up. Now I can pick them out without them running away or jumping out of my hands, but it took a long time and a LOT of patience. I think part of it is because they live together and they don''t really need any other companionship, like Munchie (Campbells) who lives by herself. But they are adorable to watch and just to keep an eye on while they''re sleeping...I''ll have to put more pictures up later.

I''m in such a bad mood. I have been working on this paper for over a month now, and last night I finally finished it and SAVED IT IN THE WRONG LOCATION. I panicked because I couldn''t find it anywhere-went back to the next newest version and tried to revise that one to the specs the one I finished last night. So I''ve been working on it furiously -and then I found it. It isn''t due until thursday but I wanted to turn it in early. But now I''m done. I refuse to do anything more to it. Luckily, fixing those other pics will help cheer me up later.

Freke and Squee--your little guys are so cute! Thank you for sharing ''em! I don''t have any pics that I can post at this time due to resizing requirements, but I can post a link to some pics.

Be sure to click on "View" in the upper left corner and go down to "About this gallery" to read about how they got their names.

** By the way, the legs shown in the picture are his, not mine!**

Yay! ETA: They are so cute!!!I wish I could let my little monsters run around like that!

Ok I'm done with class, so I'll start working on those other pics!!

Ok so this is a collage of them awake (for the most part except the bottom pic where they both decided to take a nap in the midst of burrowing...The top two pics are pretty much what they look like all the time. They're always fighting or using the other one as something to stand on, and they certainly seem to like to abuse each other just a bit but their fights don't last more than a couple of seconds and they haven't drawn blood. They seem to stand up facing each other and try to box. It's pretty funny to watch. In the top right corner, one was sleeping and the white/tan blur you see is his brother pouncing on him-and waking him up.

Ok and here they are asleep for the most part-which is when I think they are the cutest because when they're not sleeping they're running around like crazy, squeaking and chirping and making a general ruckus. They sleep together most of the time, but not usually where I can see them or get a clear shot-so you can see them sleeping together in the top left hand shot. In the middle left hand-he had crawled out the roof of their hut (they are slowly tearing the roof down-and have developed a sort of escape hatch) and promptly fell asleep. This is one of their favorite spots to sleep. And they sleep through EVERYTHING. The bottom left I was holding him in my hand so I could get a pic of his face. He's so cute but he's p-ed off that I'm holding him. They aren't exactly social-at least with me. And then the bottom right pic I love because his little paws look so cute. I didn't realize it until I saw this particular pic that their feet are covered in fur...

Anyway, that's it for now. I'll probably be back to post some pics of Munchie later when I take a break from studying!

They are so cute--great pics!

We spent last evening putting together their new home, Petco''s Rat Manor. They love it! They were in a 20 gallon long aquarium so they weren''t able to climb on anything, so when we put the girls in their new home they were about to pee themselves with joy when they realized they could climb all over the damn thing. We also got them a "play pen" so they could have a little free range time without us having to act as their barrier from the carpeted world. I''ll try to get some pics tonight of them in their play pen and in Casa del Rat.

Oh, we''re supposed to be discussing rings on this forum? Oh, ok. Well, still no ring yet.
