Thanks TG!...will you marry me?
FI didn''t like the Paisley design...He liked the idea, but not that pattern!

I''ll keep trying, told ya you got my creative juices flowing. I just realized I have a 60 day trail version of paint shop Pro...is that one of those programs I should use?..

Wow, Mandarine! That is so nice! I should be asking YOU to make ME one. :D

sorry to threadjack - Harleigh, I''ve posted directions on how I did my basic ones in Word. But they don''t compare to TG''s or the one Mandarine just posted. haha

Second try...
FI said the last one looked like a Squid...and he seemed to be leaning towards the more flowerly designs (go figure).
Is this one less squid-y? lol...

and the "matching" monogram

This is fun...lol

Once I make one I like, Do I just print from Powerpoint or do I need to convert the file to something??.

I know when I printed at Kinkos my save the dates it was sort of a pain until it printed how it looked on the screen...I had to install all the fonts in their PC before printing.

I can''t seem to find a floral background (that''s not a "paisley" design) that I like. If you guys have any suggestions let me know...

I''m happy you liked mine too! I still think you guys'' design look more professional!

M~

Wow! Looks like you are right on track! I don''t know how much clip art you have on your computer, but I have gone to bigstockphoto.com for some background designs for some of my work projects. They might have something that is not so "squid" like.

Most of them are only a few dollars to download. I''m sure there are free sites out there too though.
Great job! Isn''t it fun!?

Well, I AM married...although I''ve seen you in your wedding dress. Hubba hubba!

Paint Shop Pro is corel. I own it although I have never used it. It''s too bad we can''t email...I know someone there and could probably get you the key to unlock the trial version and make it permanent.

I like the squid over the new one. And you are making these from powerpoint?

You can morph a letter S into a Letter B. I wish I could think of a better way to describe it...but morphing seems right.

I like the St. Louis sports emblem. All the letters are stacked ontop of one another. That is an idea to play with.

Looks good! I like the more floral-y pattern better than the squid-y one ;) But, I liked how the squidy one flowed better... could you try rotating the floral paisley so that the "point" with the flowers is near the top-left of the A (where the "squid tentacles" had been lol)? I think there might be less "movement" behind the SB if that makes any sense.

When the art is shrunk down... the thin areas of the SB might get lost against the background... you could play around with making the background lighter or changing the position or altering the background image to not compete with the thinner areas of the script- could also change the thickness/stroke of the font.

If you''re still looking for a different background, DaFont.com has some floral dingbats and also initial caps you might want to look at for backgrounds. If you don''t know how to install fonts, lemme know- it''s easy.

Hi Sera,

I have no idea how to install fonts...can you pass the info along??? Happy in love did some beautiful ones for me that used fonts downloaded from dafont.com...I ''think'' I saved them on my computer, but now I can''t find them, nor do I know how to get to them! Any help here or in my monogram thread would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you all!

Unfortunately FI hated it, I made like three different ones...less squid-y, more this, less that...and then I got annoyed and started crying (not crying, crying, but little teary eyed, upset kind of crying). LOL. I guess he didn''t realize you don''t tell a bride that is feeling all creative and has spent hours playing with fonts that it doesn''t look good

.

Anyway, back to the drawing board. He does like the big A with the S and the B (original idea form TG!). And he likes the idea of having some sort of background...he just didn''t like these.

I think I will keep playing around. I''m sure there is some sort of graphic out there that him and I can both agree on. I''ll check out dafont. Thanks for the tip!!!

Harleigh - To download the font. Once you find one you like and you click on download, just click "open". A winzip window should open (or whatever program your PC has for de-compressing files). Then left click on "start" and click "explore". Find your C drive and find the "windows" folder. In there, there should be a "Fonts" folder. Drag the font (.tff) file from the winzip window and drop it in the Fonts folder. I hope that makes sense!!

Sera - You are right, I will make the background lighter! Thanks for the tip.

DKS - I like the idea of morphing the letters...just not sure how to do it. I will play with it and hopefully come up with some good results!. Good idea!!

TG - LOL, yeah, I guess I''ll stick to FI
2.gif
. I am using Powerpoint...I opened that other program and had no idea where to start...so I think I''ll have to stick to the basics...hehe.

Happy - I''ll check out bigstockphoto. When you are searching for backgrounds, what search criteria do you use?. I was having fun...I love crafts and being creative....until FI showed up and killed my creative instincts...hehe. They''ll come back though!

M~

Harleigh, I posted it in your thread.

I search for different key words, vintage, scroll, background, hmm.... I can''t think of all the words I use... and then I narrow it down with the sub-category "art-illustration"

Don''t worry about FI, I have shown mine about 10 different options and his response is always "sure, looks good"
Not exactly what I''m looking for in a response to something I''m totally excited about!

Mandarine, what about something fan-ish in the background since that is a Spanish thing?

ETA, oops sorry so big!

manmonfan.jpg

Happy - Thank you!. I''ll take "sure looks great" over "nahh"...lol. I will try that website today!

TG - I like that idea!!!. Not sure I love THAT fan, but I do like the idea. The STDs were fans and I plan on giving spanish fans to the girls as favors. So you ight be on to something!. I like that font you used too! You''re so creative!!! Thank you!!!

LOL, I think I used the same fonts (on the S and B) that you chose.

I don''t like the fan I found either, but I couldn''t find the kind I wanted. I was thinking it would be in the same style you''d be doing your invitations...a two dimensional design that can show off some of the ornate beauty of spanish fans. Hopefully you''ll be able to find something if you go that route.

Hi girls..
I think FI wants something more traiditonal...so I''m thinking about something like this:

http://www.funnybuggy.com/allure/spring.html

Do you guys have a suggestion on which graphic, font, dingbat, etc to use to find something similar to what they have here?. I''ve downloaded tons of dingbats/fonts and can''t find anything I like. I went to istockphoto but I don''t understand how that works. Do I buy the picture? They all say I need a special program to open it though...so once I buy it, how would I open it??

Any help is appreciated! If you already have something like this and don''t mind sending it to me (through the PS Admin) or posting how I could download it, I would appreciate it so much!!!

Thanks!!!

On DaFont.com for the scrollwork: Dingbats > Natural > Floralia
a font that works well with the scrollwork: Bickham Script Pro

With those two, you could do any of the samples you have posted- the first two sample images, the squidy-paisley, the last traditional one.

Especially if you can use Adobe Illustrator, you have a lot more control over the design and can also convert the text to outlines so you don''t have the issue of jagged/blurred text in your files. The program may look overwhelming, but really to do some basic things it wouldn''t take much.

Thank you sera!!

I have "Floraria" already but didn''t seem to be liking anything today

I guess I just need to give myself a couple of days and let my ideas come back later! I want something more fun, FI wants something more traditional....I guess I need to find a balance, but I can''t think of anything that fits both (or my budget!).

I''m going to visit the invitation store this week and see if they have any ideas. I already got a pocketfold sample, but I don''t want just a plain invite inside. I want to have some sort of stamp (or cardstock with some sort of pattern) and want to carry that through the monogram (which I plan to use as a tag to hold the outside of the pocketfold), in the program, place cards, etc...

Hopefully I will come up with something!

Thank you girls!
