I want this ring

Thanks @SparklieBug
I’m hoping since everyone is getting back from Vegas that some stuff will be popping up in the next few weeks

I love this! Thanks for sharing and thinking of me

The link doesn’t work,
The first one I really liked in like 10 months looked a little different but similar. Vey Art Deco with a large center stone . This may pop up again because it sold up the Vegas trade show. 623D3CE1-E3D2-4AE0-A5A4-4FBB803C0115.jpeg

I think this one is smaller than what you are looking for but similar.

I wonder if it would be worth it to "reverse engineer" and look at empty settings that resemble what you want and then you can pick your own diamond. I just happened to see this one, and yes, the prongs will need some work, but it does take a 7mm stone. Anyway, just a thought.....

That’s a good idea! Thanks

You're welcome! Also, I remembered back in the day, I used to always stalk Leigh Jay Nacht who had real antique platinum settings. I peeked at the site, not so, so much right now. Also, you might talk to Grace at Jewels by Grace as I remembered she had old platinum settings that she has collected over the years, but they are just not posted. Maybe also check with Adam at OWD too! I will keep an eye out for you as well!:)

my 10 year anniversary was on nov 30 and found this exactly one month later, I love it. I really wanted an old mine or antique cushion but this spoke to me. It’s hard taking phones because my phones yellow and really reflects it. The center is 1.55 j vs2 old euro/ transitional. It’s plat from late 20’s. A faint stamp says 10% then space and then a very worn away plat. More than Half the price of the Tiffany one lol. I’ll still always look for the first one that got away (my white whale), but I love this ring.65F2F984-9F02-40FC-BF2A-C3107F04337E.jpeg

I think the prongs may need adjusting, they grab any fuzz or hair and the diamond to set up a little higher in the setting.
The jeweler I bought it from can’t find the gia hard copy so he said to send it back to him so he can send it off again to GIA.
My jeweler had it forever just for a resize and was salty with my husband because we didn’t buy it from him. My husband was so shocked and said we would have but you do not have anything like this that’s available, she only like antique/vintage. I’m sad to say I need to find a new jeweler because he charged $200 to make it one size smaller and had it for a few weeks out of spite I would never guess he would’ve acted like this.
I love how geometrical it is, it’s surprising hard to find a good geometrical art Deco ring with at least 1.50 CT center stone.
The platinum is super white, so I don’t know if it was a rhodium plated before me, but the markings on the inside said 10% blank and a faint plat. So I’m guessing whatever the 10% is could make it a little whiter of a platinum.

Wow @Smith3 what a treasure she is, I’m so glad that after all these years you’ve found a ring you really love. Thanks for the pictures, you know I was just teasing ;)

Also the stamp is probably missing Iridium after 10%. My platinum Art Deco rings say 10% Iridium Platinum. So maybe that’s it.

I’m having a hard time seeing the pictures before posting, apologies if some are bad. Yada Thanks for the info about the markings. Pulling the trigger after this long may have opened a door lol

It's gorgeous, @Smith3! Worth the wait! And agreed, centers in those lovely Deco settings tend to be smaller, for whatever reason, so this seems like an excellent find.

Thank you ☺️

@Smith3, it's gorgeous!! What a beautiful find! Agree with @lala646, for whatever reason this style of ring tends to have smaller stones, so this is a really nice sized stone for this design. I'm really glad you found a ring that you love and will enjoy wearing. Happy Anniversary!

So…..I had to send it back to get its GIA paperwork that was missed placed, that all checked out and got that handled. It took so long lol But when I asked a jeweler who does great work if he could help fix the prongs, he told me the setting is too small for the stone and it’s basically just wedged in there so I need a new setting.
You guys, I feel jinxed when it comes to getting an art deco engagement ring. I don’t know what kind of block I have. I need to see a psychic or something.
So I don’t know if I can find a setting that’s missing its diamond or if I should have someone re-create it. Who is the best at re-creating antique art deco pieces?because the ones I’ve seen have been a little clunky.
Or do I sell the diamond and start over?

In looking at this close-up, I guess I can kind of see what he means. But is there no way a really good jeweler could make it work? I want to believe someone like DK could tweak the setting to get the stone to fit properly.

Do you love the diamond? Do you love the setting? Do you love the combo? Knowing how long it took you to find this one, I would see if there is anything that can be done to make it work. If not, I feel like you'd have an easier time either getting a new antique-style setting made, or looking for an altogether new ring than trying to find an antique setting for the stone.

I feel like Israel Rose is a great place to look for this style setting, but as we previously discussed, it's not super common to see centers over 1ct. I took a quick look, and here are a few from their site:

Is it worthwhile checking with another reputable jeweler -- their bench may be more comfortable/confident with handling the prong work

Maybe Sako could recreate it, if you end up going that route. I would get a second opinion before proceeding further.

I bet DK could do this as well by making a CAD of the original with a slightly larger head. I'd ask around, first.
