That I shouldn’t visualize going to the gym if I actually want to make it to the gym, lol. Every time I visualize how I will feel working out, I rationalize that my body isn’t ready. Today I had an epiphany. I never visualize myself at work! Unless I am sick and trying to get out of it. I just show up! Well. Same for the gym. I have to stop visualizing and just show up! What happens after that will be better than not going!
What about you? Care to share an epiphany?

Not exactly today, but relatively recent and definitely an epiphany... If I want cold chocolate milk, I don't necessarily need to deal with clumped up cocoa powder. I can pour the cocoa powder on the bottom of the cup and add juuuuust a tiny bit of milk in order to stir the cocoa into thick liquid. This way clumps don't get a chance to form. After the cocoa has been nicely stirred and mixed, I add the rest of the milk.

Today years old - I learned that there's something called glass gem corn and it definitely really exists:

Can I make me a bracelet out of these? They're so pretty!

Today years old when I learned what a glimmer is, and I’m here for all the glimmers I can find in day to
day life.

I learned im not the only one that the phrase makes their brain hurt a little.

It's a meme thing -- usually in a Reel about a hack or a hidden or little-known feature of an app or piece of hardware. I have come across some useful ones -- that I have of course forgotten.

I mostly work out at home so the energy hill is low -- but it's after dinner so there is that obstacle... We eat pretty light.

This the first time I ever heard "today years old".
It's making my brain hurt a little bit.

I don't understand the phrase lol
Off to google

OK for all those who like me had never heard this phrase FYI

The answer is I learn something new every single day. Yesterday I learned how smart crows are. I had no clue. They can use tools to get what they want. They are extremely intelligent. That is what I learned just yesterday from my nieces. Crows are capable of abstract reasoning, complex problem-solving, and group decision-making. Wow

I didn't learn this recently but I was in my upper twenties before I found out that pickles came from cucumbers. Duh!
I tried to argue about it with my Mom (who grew up on a farm). I just didn't believe it because pickle spears were usually
only about 6 inches long and regular cucumbers were more like 10 inches. Took some convincing from my mom to realize
that pickles were basically baby cucumbers. :eek2: Now I wonder how I could have been so stupid as to not see it!:lol-2:

They sell 'pickle cucumbers' in the grocery store. To make your own pickles at home!
They are small and will fit in canning jars.

You know how they always say in TV shows, "If you cannot afford an attorney one will be provided for you"?

Well, the other day I read that a certain person was told he didn't qualify to get a public defender.
Until now I didn't know that eligibility to get a public defender is means-tested!

It makes sense, of course, but I never thought of it before.

I recently discovered that the written “Voila!” is the same word as the spoken “wah lah.”

No idea how I missed that all these years.

Geez, I didnt know this either! I thought if I didn't want to pay for one that one would be provided. Only if you wanted to
hire a "more qualified" lawyer would you need to pay for one. Well, now I know...better stay out of trouble or a good
deal of money could be going to a lawyer!:oops2:

It’s like that with almost everything. The pharmaceutical companies say they’ll help pay for your meds if you can’t. But then their definition of need is way extreme and many don’t qualify despite not being able to afford the cost of the med. They make it hard to qualify

Eta I don’t know the requirements to qualify for a public defender however. I hope I never find out either lol

TIL= today I learned

I was this many years old when I learned that joining my family members for vacation is best when we stay 3 days. DH told me "guests are like fish, they start to stink after 3 days" so I took this to heart. We stayed with my family 3 full days for the annual family vacation and returned home last night. It worked wonderfully.

I thought Woodstock was a dog for years and it blew my mind that he was a bird during a random conversation with my husband.

In my defence, my son also thought he was a dog (I never discussed Woodstock with him prior to this) and when I told him Woodstock was a bird, it blew his mind too!

I thought Woodstock was a music festival...

Hahahahaaa, I was today years old when it finally clicked that I am a walking I was today years old font of useless information for everybody I know and that I missed the window to make it my calling as I'm not on social media that much.
I could've been a contender!
You want 'useless' Jeopardy sized tidbits of all manner of interesting but inapplicable things?
I'll be your huckleberry. I'm your girl.

I was today years old when I learned that the coordinate system I used to use for Surveying via GPS was called GDA94 as it was established in 1994 while GDA20 was established in 2020 and the reason there is 5-6 feet of difference in locations for a given coordinate is because of continental drift. The 5-6 feet of difference is how far Australia has drifted to the north in those 26 years.

A few more years we'll be neighbors! (US + Australia) Howdy Neighbor!:wavey:

It varies state to state and the charges.
In some states it can even vary by county.
Also they do not have to read you your rights when they arrest you.
Just when they get around to questioning you.
DUI stops violate Miranda all the time but the courts have ruled its ok.
They say it does not apply until the arrest not the detention in DUI cases.
Most other things Miranda starts at contact or detention.

The feds can ask you a question and if an answer is even unintentional untrue it can be a felony.
Not answering can also be a felony.
Taking the 5th however still apply, but you can not selectively answer questions using the 5th.
Which is why you hear: they took the 5th 250 times.
Yes they did because to answer one question opens the door to getting ordered to answering them all by the judge.
There is a lot more unjustice in the criminal system that lost the "justice".

I was stunned to discover that many people in jail in the USA are there for an entire year or two years or more, waiting to be tried. In other words, imprisoned for a VERY long time when it hasn't even been determined that they've done anything wrong. No words...

P.S. I don't think this would qualify as "contentious" discussion, so I'll say it. Personally, I think people should be freed until trial based on the severity of the charges/risk to society, not based on their ability to afford bail money. And if locked up, those trials should get precedence, like no more than a few weeks away, whenever humanly possible.

John Oliver did a really great show on bail reform, it's quite an interesting topic.

Over 4 years on average in the Chicago IL area for murder.

This is just taking effect in IL sept 18th.
Even without it a friend of mine was jumped, beat up and robbed. The guy that did it was arrested and released before she got out of the ER having paid no bail.
It is going to get worse with the new rules.

US east-west interstate highways are numbered 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 7, 80, 90 going up in numerical order from south to north.

And major highways that run N/S end in a 5 like I95. Running across the US from the west coast (5) to the east coast (95).

Here's the East/West Highways like @Dee*Jay pointed out.
EW.jpg

Now if I only traveled enough by car to remember this!

Edit...in general* odd numbers run N/S; even numbers run E/W.
