I was today years old when I realized…

And major highways that run N/S end in a 5 like I95. Running across the US from the west coast (5) to the east coast (95).

Here's the East/West Highways like @Dee*Jay pointed out.

Now if I only traveled enough by car to remember this!

Edit...in general* odd numbers run N/S; even numbers run E/W.

Thank you for that additional piece of cool info tyty!

US east-west interstate highways are numbered 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 7, 80, 90 going up in numerical order from south to north.

Furthermore, I believe you'll both (and I hope everyone else, too) will find this video on the topic not only informative, but also highly entertaining:

In that vein, it wasn’t too long ago that I realized that the zip codes in the US are also in numerical order from the east coast to west. :read:

All I can say is I love google maps! I wonder if my parents had all these naming conventions memorized to make travel
easier? I'll have to quiz them next time I see them! Thanks for the video post @Avondale !

Edit...didn't know that either @Slickk !

If we're going to down the path of fun number/geography facts, up until 2011 Social Security Numbers were given out based on State (now they are randomized) I was late 20s / early 30s years old when I learned that one!

Early 20s when I learned this when I started taking over HR responsibilities at work. Lived out in the west burbs then and as you’re aware people were from all over!
