Have been thinking about setting this 8.6 ct green beryl

She is a big one, as you can see from this shot taken while I was playing with the stone

Some ideas from browsing the internet...

Am usually a halo person but I’m not sure if this stone is too big for a halo... but then I also feel like some protection is needed since beryl is a ‘soft’ stone.

Anyone has any ideas or suggestions? TIA!

I am still debating whether to set my elongated pink Imperial Topaz (9.23ct measuring 8.58 x 14.22mm) as a ring or a pendant, as it is a big stone similar in size to the OP's lovely green Beryl! :kiss2:

These are my inspirations as a ring and a pendant, more likely to be a pendant, as it may be too big as a ring even for me!

Thanks @dk168 for sharing your inspirations. I recently got an even bigger jadeite cab ring... and you know how jadeite can shrink most other stones like how @mellowyellowgirl experienced...

My new jadeite ring:
791018

The beryl is definitely smaller than this ring :lol-2:

Nice! I'd keep the setting minimal since the stone is so large already.

Agree! I feel like a simple design will do better too. Else too OTT. Plus the stone feels cool and calm you know? So a more simple design, probably no complicated halo.

That's MASSIVE!

I only have one ring that big, which is a Sea of Cortez mabe in a diamond halo, and it seldom comes out of the drawer as blingy events are far and between these days.

I think your gorgeous green beryl would look amazing in a simple setting with baguettes on each side. Technically I guess that's a 3 stone but to me the side baguettes just act as a beautiful accent to your stunning green beryl.

This is my favorite.

Or maybe even something like this?

For a ring, I really like the baguette cut Emerald ring that belonged to mochiko42, with long baguettes on the sides.

DK :))

Along similar ideas posted by @missy, how about step cut trillions on either side?

I would probably opt for lab/MMDs to save on cost myself for mine.

Is this it?
Beautiful zircon. Beautiful setting.

Nope, sorry, I meant this one that I posted - I love parallel steps designs for emerald/step cut stones!

I actually think of the jadeite ring as being fairly casual, something I’ll wear with jeans/on weekends etc as opposed to my usual blinged up halo rings (which I wear with jeans anyway lol).

Love this ring and bracelet on you!

I was thinking traps, cos the stone is big so I need “shorter” side stones? Or shorter baguettes are definitely a possible option thanks for your suggestions!

Love the jade bangle and ring combination! :kiss2:

I am likely to have my cheapo jelly Welo Opal set in a metal halo in Rhodium-plated Silver for casual wear. The Opal was a steal via Opal Auctions, and I can't justify spending a lot on its setting.

Yes am thinking the same. I had this stone in mind when I asked about MMD side stones in the other sub forums

Thank you @missy!

Thank you! I like them together too.
I don’t like the feel of silver so unfortunately have to go with WG...so trying to save on side stones.

@icy_jade Ouros has trillions side stones, however, they are brilliant cut and not step cuts.

Vijay's Moissy shop as in Golden Bird, has chubby baguette as in carré cut listed on his site.

In case you have not seen them (I can't remember from the other thread, sorry!).

You go girl!!!! That's fabulous!

My giant Jade rings are totally casual! I wear them with denim mini skirts!

Very elegant and architectural. A 3-stone seems fitting :)

But would need to be proportionate.

@mellowyellowgirl I wish I could carry off wearing my bigger rings for casual occasions, it just does not feel right to me, not for going to a pub! :lol-2:

@dk168
Do you think Vijay can custom the setting for me with the side stones (moissy or MMD) if I give him the stone specs? would you recommend that?

I really like the two inspiration pictures you shared, but I wonder if part of the appeal of them is the darker colors of the center stone. Aquamarine inspiration should get you to a subdued color but still tons of emerald cuts.

Alternatively, here are some elongated emeralds that I've been drooling over:

@icy_jade Can you tell us more about the new jade ring? It's spectacular!!

IMHO, I would not risk it, based on my limited experience with what I would consider as simple customisations so far. I may change my mind pending on the outcome of my latest request/project with him for a pair of dangling drops (just the drops) in 6mm OEC Moissy.

I may go back to my original plan to get the 6mm OEC Moissys and send them to the bench I use in China, as they are used to my designs and thinking, if you know what I mean.

At this moment in time, I would advice for you to decide on the cut and size of the side stones, and ask him to cut a pair for you, for the stones to be set elsewhere.

Not sure if you are having prongs or bezels, however, there had been reports of his bezels not being too great, and I have seen examples on his shops when I thought the bezels are a bit rough/wonky.

Personal opinions and all that.

Hey thanks and appreciate your honesty and advice. I’m thinking tab prongs... never been a bezel fan.

Thanks! Yeah I need to think of better search terms for sure. I sure searched for “elongated emerald ring” hence the many emerald ring pics. Will browse around aquamarine rings as suggested 8)

Tab/bar prongs in the shoulders? That would be great for your lovely green Beryl as it has deep shoulders!

Thank you! I got it from Kathy Jade during their recent annual sale. Is an icy jadeite measuring 2.9cm by 1.4cm and 0.9cm thickness. Ring in 18k WG. It was described as having slight glow ie 微微的起瑩光

This is what it looked like on the site:
8BE30D83-6BB2-49DD-8C25-0CBDC0F874C3.jpeg73A6EBB6-C77B-4CBA-9FBE-0A70DBE479DC.jpeg349325FD-6F6A-478A-ACEE-F7CB815BDED1.jpeg

Is not a perfect match to my bangle due to slight color difference and also cos the ring cab is of much better quality - finer texture, very clean inside and of course the ring cab glows.
