...and we’re back!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted something sparkly. Since there’s so much IDJ buzz in the last month I decided to join the party and share my latest project with them!! It’s taken several weeks to get it right but by close of week I hope to be at the final wax/platinum casting phase!! Hold please for specs and pics
Specs:
Double halo earring w/Asscher accent: 4.9 cttw
Small halo: 1.5 pointers, 16 stones
Large halo: 6 pointers, 16 stones
Asscher: .50 ct ea
Center: .75ct ea. (using previous pair of studs after IDJ bday upgrade)

OMG!!!! I CANT WAIT!!! So excited for you!!!!:appl::appl::appl::appl:

...and the wax...waiting on final wax more similar to first pic. Goal is to have unibody construction of the setting vs. assembly thennnnn polish the setting and thennnn setting my yummy F VS2 stones (shocker).
Hold please for the back scrollwork

Me too! The hearts were a nice touch from the design guy, cannot take credit there.

Bummer - rainy day in NYC and no final wax to share ;))

Hello PSers!!
Sharing the CAD of the earrings. Note: not exactly the final desired outcome but it gives an idea on the direction. Also forgot to mention it will be a drop/dangle earring. I can hardly wait since we’re so close to completion.

Oh my!! YUMMMM!!! :lickout:
These are going to be absolutely gorgeous!!! I can’t wait to see them dangling from your ears!!! :eek-2:

Thanks @Matthews1127! So excited for this piece. What’s most important is that it executes as a vintage, old world glamour piece versus a standard double halo. Hence why the “blue” versus the “purple”:snooty: wax will be used for the setting.

As for the diamonds, light performance is important. So fire+scintillation since it swings/dangles. Fire will give a strong burst of color + scintillation the “dancing” Diamond effect. #ontheedgeofmyseat

That will be a wonderful set! Can’t wait to see the final pieces!

Thanks CravingDiamonds! IDJ confirmed the final-final wax is ready to be viewed today!! We’re “chugging” along. Dear Lord, please let this wax be the final-final...

:wall:Unfortunately, the wax is not final-final. :angryfire:
Still changes not accounted for. Back to Friday...again. #ontheverge, #stayingoptimistic

Happy hump day!

Sharing pics of the latest wax for context - two changes to be made that are fairly simple.
1- size came back smaller - need 1.5 and 6 pointers
2- back plate btw Asscher and backscroll work “MIA”

Otherwise, good execution, headed in the right direction. IDJ has the scale and capabilities to pull off an impeccable piece. Special projects with them just require patience, persistence and strong partnership. Cheers to PS’ers out there with custom work projects and those who value the commitment it takes to bring a dream piece to life!

I made a RARE concession to have the split prongs done by hand after the wax came back again w/out it. Deeply disappointed
...Patience, Persistence and strong Partnership are important to me. Excellence, Follow Thru and Results are also important. Yekutiel will always strive to create great customer experiences and is highly regarded by many in that space (myself included). He’s shown great commitment to the completion of this project. It’s just a critical stage now where results are key.

UPDATE:
Got the platinum castings back. However, the lever backs were positioned in the wrong place:eek2:
When Yekutiel asked twice do I still want to move forward... I’ve accepted that both parties are anxious at this point (myself and IDJ). However 2 1/2 months in, the most amicable and honorable solution is to complete the project. I simply want it done and done well. Looking forward to sharing pics of the finished piece - pics attached...#onestepcloser

...and so the piece is done...got it yesterday...there is still much to be desired in terms of the look and feel of the piece as well as the craftsmanship. I must thank Yekutiel for his level of customer service. Unfortunately members of the team (including one senior level staff) were unkind and dismissive which I have zero tolerance for. I understand now their business model is for a different market segment. Bespoke, Antique Vintage, Hierloom...is not what their known for or do well with. Determined to have this piece in my collection, I’m having it redone by another team - #expensivelesson

OMG! Just thought of a fantastic way to make this piece special/vintage without breaking the bank. What if the first halo/smaller halo is made of Cornflower blue sapphires instead?! The setting could remain intact and the stone switched to sapphires instead?? Thoughts?

I think the sapphires would be pretty, but they won't fix the problem. The melee looks poorly set, to me. Too many gaps - not a sufficiently fluid look.

Good luck with your project - there's clearly a lot of time and money already invested in it and I hope your vision can find fruition.

Oh man... I hate that they didn't turn out how you expected, OP. :( I have to agree with @mrs-b here... sapphires would be nice, but won't fix the problem you have with them. That said, I'm excited to see the "final final" version of these earrings!

Threadjack: I must see more photos of your ring stack... it is delicious!

Absolutely beautiful but what matters is you are happy.

I'm sorry these did not turn out to meet your expectations. I hope you can resolve this to your liking and am sorry that you've already spent so much time and money.

Thanks to all!! Agree the melee is poorly set - didn’t call it out wanted to see who would “spot” just what’s wrong with the piece. This is why I didn’t want the split prongs done by hand. Had the split prongs been kept as part of the cast setting...it was the one concession I made - ai-yi-yi

I agree with mrs-b and msop04 which is why I’m having the piece redone by another team (w/the sapphire idea as the smaller inset halo). @AprilBaby, directionally this piece is stunning just didn’t execute well!!
