I would love to have been a fly on the wall when that was given to your obviously glamourous ancester.
That ring is positively sinful!
I bet it has wonderfully romantic story.
Imagine the stir it caused!
Oooh the intrigue - the gossip!
The women pea-green with envy! Heeheehee

Scintillating...

It looks like the setting was remade for the stones, maybe 1970s?

Give Nana an extra hug for the Pscope crowd. How nice it is to see such a treasure!

Scintillating is right....who was that ancestor???? Royalty????

Kaleigh...you must be so thrilled...and what a wonderful keepsake from your Sweet Nanny.

I dearly hope Old Miner or some other antique specialist weighs in about those stones. That center stone is SO interesting....and beautiful!

Honestly, Lisa...that incredible ring, and the thought of your Nanny giving it to you now, brings tears to my eyes...

Wow!! Your Nanny is the original *diamond diva*! You are blessed to have her this long and to inherit such a treasure. I''m glad she got to see you wear the ring. You and your family are in my prayers.

I got to meet "Nanny" today. What an honor to meet this woman.

She is a fascinating woman. I would have loved to sit and listen to her stories all day.
She and Lisa have such a special bond- what a treasure to witness.

Thanks so much Lisa.

A big thank you goes to Nan for taking these wonderful pics!!! Thanks Storm, Demelza, Craftygrrl, Scintilating, DiamondPrincess and my widget. widget, this is one very old ring. I would love oldminer''s opinion on it. He is in my back yard, so I may take it to him just for fun. I am so blessed to have it. It will be my RHR for a very long time. I am so happy she got to see me wear it. She just lost her vision in her good eye yesterday, and everything is blurry now.

The ring is beautiful Lisa!

I know you will always treasure it.

I love the steep crown angle on those diamonds...cool!

Nan, I''m so glad that you got to meet Lisa''s nana!

Wow!

All diamonds have the same cut - a version of the brilliant older than the 'old mine'. I don't see many...

If you remember, a 30 something carat fancy green-yellow of the same breed was posted a bit back on this forum.

The shape of the rough is not nearly as obvious in Old mine cuts - these are allot less fashioned, so the proportions remain close to the rough. And the facets only slightly angled (lightly polished on the surface, as you wish) compared to the more recent cuts.

What a threat! Even the pictures - let alone the ring.

... not to mention, this is precisely the kind of treasure that got me hooked into jewelry to begin with.

Oh finally pictures (thank you Nan). That ring is absolutely incredible!!! I have never seen anything quite like it and it is just magnificent. What a wonderful memento to have from someone special that you can treasure for years and pass on to your own daugher some day.

Sorry about your Nanny....Really sad. I am glad she got to see you wear it. I love antique rings and that is so beautiful. It is my new favorite!!!

Oh kaleigh, that is such a wonderfully fantastic old ring. Just amazing and I am so happy that your Nanny got to see you wear it. I''m sure it makes her feel so much better to know that you will be taking care of it. I don''t think I''ve ever seen stones quite like those. Just amazing!

Kaleigh,

This ring is amazing, definitely a family treasure! You are so lucky to have inherited such an incredible heirloom. The ring looks like it could have come from an European royal family. The diamonds definiitelyl look pre 1900, but do you know if the setting is more recent? Do you know the story of how this ring was given to the original owner? Do you have photos of your ancestors wearing this ring? How many generations of your family have owned this ring? Do tell us more.

AN

This ring is as amazingly beautiful as the love and sentiment of the people who have worn it. I''m so glad that Nanny got to see you wear it. How touching! Lots of love goes out to you and Nanny!

The ring is beautiful, Lisa! What an incredible piece of history you''ve been given. Things like that always make me wonder about the previous owners and the lives they lived. It is so special that it is still in your family for you to enjoy and pass on eventually. I''m just sorry you''re receiving this ring under the current circumstances. So glad your Nanny got to see you wear the ring though. I''ll keep your Nanny & your family in my prayers during this difficult time.

Kaleigh
that sure is a neat ring.

never seen that kind of cut.

Thanks Sundial, UCLABelle, Catmom, Art Nouveau, Kaili, and Blue. It is indeed a great treasure. It belonged to my great, great, great grandmother who was from England. The ring has never been altered. I did have to get it sized, Nanny wears a size 7 and I am a size 5. So my jeweler was amazed that it''s in the shape it''s in for being so old. I adore it and am so happy she got to see it on my hand. It will indeed be passed down to Ashely and so on....

Oh well... it took a while to get over the surprise. I am sure the story and memories linked to these stones are allot more than anyone can guess from pictures - either the sad or the happy.

Best wishes, Kaleigh and much courage!

Good for you Nan to have helped with the important side of things. The value of such jewelry isn''t much in the appraisal - and you got to know some of the important story behind it.

Thank you very much for sharing some of the story, and some of the glitter...

Thanks Ana. I am not going to get it appraised, was more curious as to the nature of the cut of the stones, more than anything. I think I have gotten all the information from her that I can get. I don''t care about what it''s worth. To me it''s priceless as it belonged to so many members of my family, and will continue to be passed down for many generations to come.

That ring is just divine, Kaleigh!! I absolutely love vintage pieces like that, so much history in such a small object....it would make a great right hand ring as well!

Yes I agree Mara. Fun to have such a lovely piece. So glad you liked it. It was very hard for me to describe...
