So for those of you who skip the week off of the pills.. Aren''t you contstantly worried you could be preggo? Because I know I would be if I didn''t have my period every month to tell me I''m not. I''m a little paranoid, I think..but still..
That''s the reason I''m not switching to the new pill which purposefully lets you get your period only four times a year. (I think it''s called Seasonale, or something similar). I also have been on the my specific pill for many years and never had one side effect. I''m a little nervous about switching...

I actually went to the GYNO a week or so ago for the same problem ( i think )

I was having severe pains the first day of my period. I didn''t want to get on BC, though would to alliviate the pain.

He prescribed Ponstel. I take it at the first sign of PMS. i took only twice the first day of my period. It totally worked- and rarely does that happen!

ok, after fully reading this thread- i don''t have the same problem. However, i was very curious about a few things. How do you know if you have Endometriosis-(spelling??) besides by the doctor''s diagnosis?

also, it is still true that you gain weight when you get on the pill? or was that off? or is it not like that anymore??

Ok..I am going to add my 2 cents to this subject...make an appt. with your dr. as already suggested. Talk it out straight with your dr. and seriously consider the pill or the shot or whatever you and he/she decide is best for you, but do it now, so that your body has adapted to whatever changes you might experience...

I did not and do not get pms bad...my oldest daughter does and when she was engaged last year(they broke up), she talked to her dr. and it was a god-send to everyone. For me, the pill(way back when!--my hubby has since had a vasectomy

) stimulated ovulation and that is highly unusual. Again, that was my experience...and I got 3 bonus kids as a result.

Seriously, consult w/your dr...they will know how to advise you...I totally would not want to worry about this either!

wow. great idea posting the link to the ''period predictor''. the person that wrote the script for that little program was obviously a genius. lol! love it! whew!!!...no period on my wedding day..but I guess I''ll have to pack some tampons for the honeymoon. DARN!

Matatora - Yeah, I did mean doubling up as in taking the pill and Nuvoring at the same time, or something to that effect. Injections, patch, etc should be stand-alone or used with a barrier method.

jcrow - As I understand it, lots of women don''t even know they have endo until they experience infertility problems. Others have severe cramping and other symptoms and it''s diagnosed then. PLEASE correct me if I''m wrong, but I think it''s when your uterine lining (period) doesn''t shed properly and/or the lining grows on your ovaries and in the fallopian tubes, which is why it can cause infertility. Again, please correct, but that''s what I remember...
Regarding pill weight gain, I think there was a recent study that found women tend to lose weight on the pill, but it still has that weight gain reputation. Don''t know about gain/loss when going off pills though...

longer periods, heavier bleeding and severe cramps
Also the weight gain you here about is less the 8ozs mostly it is an urben myth. People think they will gain weight so they attribute it to that rather then the extra slice of pizza.

M-

i have the lheavier bleeding and severe cramps but the period don''t last long-

i was just concerned b/c my doc didn''t seem to question why the change. he just put me on a perscription.

thanks.

If it wasnt always like that then it is highly unlikely that you have endo. However if you are concerned call your Dr and ask him. But some changes in your cycle are normal and happen to a fair amount of people. If things dont get better be sure to keep track of things including time of day you are experincing pain and what you were doing/eating/drinking. It can help your doctor help you. Also you may want to write down all of your questions before you get there so you dont feel rushed and dont forget to ask.

oh- that''s helpful. thanks.
