If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be?

I second that motion!

Just for myself? I would wish for the power to pick up any musical instrument and be able to play it flawlessly.

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

I wish that everyone would get EXACTLY what they deserve: that all the good, kind, wonderful people have happy fulfilling lives, and that all the mean, selfish, brutish people would have get what's coming to them.

I guess I just wish Karma would hurry up a little . . .

I am a bbbbaaaaddd Buddhist . . . :nono:

Complete honesty? I wish I could see beyond my personal desires and wish for world peace, but I would wish for my son to have clear, easily understood speech. I believe that even though he has Down syndrome, he has a great life in front of him. He is only limited by the fact that it is very difficult for him to communicate all that he wants to.

Selfish wish, but that's it.

I wish this for you and your son.

I wish health and complete cures for you all. You're very brave and strong. I am in awe of you.

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

I would seriously need a few more wishes...........

But the first thing that came to my mind (as I was eating a peanut butter sandwich for dinner), was to lose the weight I have
gained and never be able to gain it back. Therefore remaining thin for the rest of my life...........

I have to say this; I am thin, and it's never actually done anything for me . . . I'm not actually sure it's a good use of your wish

If you were thin, what exactly would be different? I mean seriously, not trying to be mean, just think it through. What, actually, would change?

People aren't suddenly nice, or less obnoxious, or kinder, just because you're a thin person. I've learned over the years that the mean, obnoxious people are that way toward EVERYONE. It took me years not to take it personally; they're just jerks.

Clothes don't really fit any better. I have tried on tons of stuff that just looks like rags on a broomstick on me. I have a hard time with clothes, seriously. Don't get me STARTED on swim suits! The most stylish friend I have is a size 34. She outshines me often!

I think those insurance "ideal weight" charts are full of it. Seriously, they are made for malnourished people. My DH, when he was within the "ideal", looked emaciated. With an extra 30 lbs, he's MY ideal.

I'm just saying, don't worry about your weight because of what you believe other people think of you; they're too busy thinking about themselves to think of anyone else.

Now, I have GOT to give someone else a chance on this thread . . .

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

Lately I have been wishing that we could win lotto so we could have a baby together. I'm only 30 and the thought that having babies is already over for us when some of our friends have only just started saddens me.

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

I would wish for my husband to be able to live with me (we live on opposite coasts of the US).

Although when I make a birthday wish or break a wishbone, it usually has to do with weight loss instead. That's my standard "little" wish, the "big" wish being above.

ETA: iLander, at least for me, wishing for weight loss has nothing to do with how others view me or what I'll get out of it externally. It has everything to do with how I view myself and the confidence that would come from it. I don't need to lose a lot, just those last 10-15 pounds would be a huge self-esteem booster!

Well, then I think it's a perfect wish jstar! :appl:

I guess I just have so many friends that worry about their weight, that I feel bad and I wish they would see themselves as I see them: perfect and beautiful.

My DH does physically feel better when he loses weight though; less tired, less strained, more energy, so I'm happy for him in that way.

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

Makes me think of Steve Martin and his Christmas wishes..

One of my coworkers last week asked me "If I had one wish this year, you know what it would be?" and I said "Um..for all the children of the world to get together and hold hands and sing in perfect harmony?" She gave me this funny look and said "Uh, no, for Dr. to get all her stuff caught up for once" Hmph. She totally did not get it and here I thought I was being so funny.

I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony. I'd like to hold it in my arms and keep it company.

Davi el Mejor:
That people wouldn't abuse or neglect living things that can feel pain. I think this is specific enough and yet broad enough to cover humans and animals alike.

This is my wish also.

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

I"d wish to be allowed to be happy. Completely happy like I was a year and a half ago.

I'd also wish for Karma to step it up a bit. I want the people who have made it a point to come between me and what makes me happy to have a nip in the butt. I've never done anything cruel or mean or hateful to another person.... not in the grand scheme. Sure I've had fights or argued with family/friends.... .but I've never been truly cruel. For someone to walk into my life, and be cruel and try to take away my happiness for their own selfish motives. That sucks, and I don't deserve it, and I'm constantly asking myself what I did TO deserve it.

My DH made this same choice almost 4 years ago, so I can totally relate to what you are feeling. And for that reason, I wish your DH much success in his transition!

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

That people could just be KIND to each other.......

Yup, that's right. I would wish for money. Because no matter how healthy we all are, our health will be compromised by the amount of stress we have from trying to make ends meet.

I'm with you, MP. Things are tough right now.

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

My wish is that my kitty isn't really dead, just hiding in the closet and we go home and find him all comfy and cozy in there tonight.

You're right dragonfly, you don't deserve it! You did nothing, I promise you. It's NOT your fault!

I am a lot like you, I've never intentionally hurt anyone in my life (unintentionally, yes, and when I realize it I apologize profusely) and can't even FATHOM why someone would want to be cruel to others!

Why would someone BE like that? Doesn't it corrode them inside? Doesn't it make them rot in their core?

But then again, maybe it does make them rot. . . i certainly hope it does . . .

Meanwhile, I officially give you permission to reclaim your happiness. Screw them, be happy anyway!

That'll really piss them off :naughty:

I wish this, too. I know better than to count on it, though. If only. :((

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

iLander - Thanks. I agree and am amazed at how selfish and cruel people can be. It seems to be a recurring theme in my life, with people being cruel and selfish towards me.

Oh how I wish we had a confessional thread right now b/c I can't bring myself to post the story permanently.

But there's always been someone or other that has been outright cruel... and I just don't get it.

JUST BLAH. I don't like people.

That being said, I'm going to do everything I can to correct my own faults to try to become a better, healthier, nicer, Kill em with kindness, overly confident in myself person. Apparently you have to be completely confident bordering on conceited to make it in this world.... so shall I be.

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

For my young son to have a great life, happiness, health, etc. I adore him so.

Re: If you could have any one wish granted, what would it be

My only wish is to be happy. I've struggled with clinical depression for years and every time I pull myself up, something happens to kick me right back into that hole. And now here I am, jobless, my best friend is moving 8 hrs away, my wedding that was supposed to be next year has been postponed indefinitely, and my aunt has about a month to live. When she dies I will have three family members left in the world, two of which are over 75. 24 is too young to be alone. ;(

I know that i'm being self-centered and that there are loads of people with problems so much worse than my own, and there are good things that happen to me... it's just so hard to remember that sometimes.
