Yay! I''m glad you got a new US! I thought it was funny how it looks so much bigger on the website, too. I''m driving up to Chicago tomorrow, and I''ll see if any of the stores there are closing. I should get one for my mom!
Ouch. I don''t know who I feel worse for the person with the giftcard or the poor cashier whos going to get reemed when s/he has to tell that to someone with a giftcard...Date: 2/21/2008 7:48:54 PM

Well... I went out and bought 2! (one I am going to give to my mom though)
FYI: I talked to the sales rep and they are COURT ORDERED not to accept any giftcards, people with giftcards are SOL and he said they will be shutting down 50% of their stores. They don''t know what they are going to do yet regarding warranties or returns. They only one in my town is probably shutting down, they are advising the employees to start looking for new jobs
I got home and cleaned my rings with it! It makes a funny noise which I wasn''t really expecting LOL. My other cheapy one was quiet, but not nearly as good! I might have to take some more pictures, my ring is SUPER clean compared to the day I did the photoshoot, LOL don''t know if the difference would show on a photo though.
If/when the store in my town goes out of business and is having sales, I may purchase another one for a back up
ETA: they are much smaller in person then on the website... I was picturing this somewhat massive thing. I am so glad it is smaller!

Under Pennsylvania law, unused gift certificates are turned over to the Pennsylvania Department of the Treasury as unclaimed property. The business must turn the gift certificate over two years after expiration date. If there is no expiration date, then it must be turned over five years from the date of issuance. You may claim certificates from the Department of the Treasury by calling 1-800-222-2046. Thus far, The Pennsylvania state treasury has collected more than $2.7 million in unredeemed gift certificates and is currently seeking the rightful owners.

According to the California Department of Consumer Affairs legal guide on gift certificates, the holders of cards may have a claim against the bankruptcy estate of a retailer that files Chapter 11. If the court has prohibited The Sharper Image from redeeming gift certificates, you are considered a creditor in the case, says the CDCA.
You may be entitled to file a claim, but as an "unsecured creditor" you're pretty far down in the pecking order and aren't very likely to get anything.

She fell in love with it and picked up one of her own the next day at the Schaumberg mall! Yay!
She says it was $49.99 with $4 batteries.
