Last night before bed I was gazing at it, holding it in the light every which way and looking at it, and I noticed... the table is scratched.

It''s a small v-shaped scratch leading in diagonally from a prong. Looks like it happened during setting. I''m not going to freak out too badly about it, but am going to ask my jeweler to look at it. I need to get the prongs adjusted anyway since they''re not flush with the ring on the top and keep catching on things.

Here''s what is interesting about the stone:

Blacklight: it''s a very dark but discernible emerald green
Cloudy daylight: Teal green
Diffuse sunlight: Steely blue
Incandescent lamplight: Purple
Halogen lighting: Reddish-violet, more reddish depending on the viewing axis

I''m a little confused. Are you saying that I have a fake color change garnet? If so, on what basis do you make this claim?

And you''re offering to swap me three of your real color change garnets for my fake one? Why?
