Hi all,

I've been following some recent posts for a 2 carat diamond from a couple of PS'ers and must have gotten bitten by the same diamond bug! I currently have a 1.5 C and looking to upgrade with the following specs:

Carat: at least 2 carats
Cut: Excellent
Clarity: as low as SI2 but eye-clean
Color: as low as J
Budget: tentatively 15K (would prefer not to go over)

I know the PS'ers will do their magic and find me the biggest bang for my bucks. Thanks so much in advance!

Thanks so much for the quick response! I was wondering what your thoughts are regarding the "very good" cut. From stalking the many threads on this forum, I thought that "very good" is "not good enough" and that I need to stick to the "excellent" cut. Otherwise, going to very good can widen the possibilities for me .

I don't like any of the one's above. But this scored a .7 on the HCA and it faces up very big and looks very white for a J (thanks to the fluorescence). JA also offers a 1-5% discount for PS member so this could be right in your budget. If you like it, put it on hold and request an idealscope image:

You can find a really really great stone that's "Very good" symmetry and not pay the premium for something "perfect". I'm a huge fan of this, but i didn't like the one's posted because two of them were too deep and the other had an inclusion on the table that would bother me.

Some Very Goods are better than some Excellents.

I'm actually not sure why it scored a VG; the finish is Ex/Ex, the girdle is M-SltThick, and the angles are all in range for an Ex cut.

GIA's Facetware is no longer free, so I can't check.

Thank you, 04Diamond! I just emailed IDJ about the diamond you suggested because I bought my last diamond from them and hoping to upgrade through them as well. The diamond looks beautiful (to my amateurish eyes - and a VS1 would be great!)...I am afraid it may be a little bit out of my price range. Keeping fingers crossed...

You can ask Yukitel to find similar stones around the same budget. He'll give you a break on the price too.
