Birthday was really good FI took us and my dad out for lunch and then took me to a sushi bar for dinner and a movie and he made me a YUMMMALICIOUS chocolate cake with sprinkles so all in all very good :).

Thats awesome Spark! I have two good friends who are in the process of immigrating and we are hardcore crossing our fingers for them as well. You must be so excited to come on over to the ol'' U S of A!! Congrats.

Yay! Congratulations, Sparks! I bet you''re relieved to be done with all that for now!

Congrats Spark! I am very happy for you. When TGuy got his (at the time, they were done right then and there in the consulate), we got back into the elevator and didn''t say a word. When we hit the ground floor, we ran out of the elevator and we hugged like crazy people. I was crying, sobbing actually, I was so relieved. I had been pretty sure we''d get it all along, but nothing prepared me for seeing it really done and over with.

I hope your joy carries you over for a long time to come and wish you the best in the U.S.

Maisie - Thanks so much!! I am so excited and still reeling almost as though I can''t believe that its really true. After all this time, it has finally happened and my new life can start in the US!! Yay!

Thing - Relieved is exactly how I feel! Totally relieved. Even if you know that there should be no problems, it''s always nerve-racking waiting for something that is outside of your control. Thanks for the congrats!!

TGal - Thank you! I can relate to your recollection. I was sort of on autopilot when the mail came. I accepted the envelope and ripped it open. I think that my heart stopped for a second because I was, somewhere in the back of my head, expecting that there would be some new hoop to jump through but .... no. It was all good. I felt this total sense of calm come over me and then I ran upstairs to where my mom was waiting and showed it to her. She was so thrilled, excited, relieved etc that she started crying. It''s been over 20 years since we started this process and for her that one moment of seeing my picture in my passport on that visa was the culmination of 20 years worth of anticipation and frustration. She cried for a long time but I couldn''t. I just felt calm. This means so many good things for me and it means that I can start "our" life together in the US right away! Yay. Thank you, again ... It means a lot from someone who has endured this process themself.

BB - A girl has to have some secrets, doesn''t she?
