Inclusion question

Hi Everyone,

I searched the archives for an answer to this question, but couldn't find anything. I recently bought an F, .9, VS2 diamond online. I really, really like it, but viewed from the side there's a ring that seems to go all the way around the diamond. This ring is not viewable from most angles--it disappears like a hologram unless you are looking at the diamond directly on its side, in the light. It seems to be symmetrical, in that it looks the same regardless of the side I view it from, it's not thicker or thinner at certain areas, etc. It's just like a ring that goes all the way around.

I attempted to take photos, but what I'm talking about doesn't show up on any of the pictures I'm taking. The closest thing I've been able to find online is this photo (though I believe this is just a cgi):

If you notice, there's a point (on the side view) near the middle-bottom of the diamond where the diamond goes from translucent to white, and if you look closely, there's a ring that runs along this clear-white boundary. This is very similar to what's going on in my diamond, though the "ring" is much more visible on mine.

I apologize if this is unclear, I just feel as though I lack the vocabulary to really explain this problem.

Is this normal, or do I just have a really odd inclusion that looks exactly the same from both side views?

Thanks so much!

I believe it's called girdle reflection and it's a normal characteristic of diamonds.

I believe it's girdle reflection and can be seen in all RB stones.

ETA answered at the same time as junebug, but I also believe this to be the case.

Thank you both so much! I do believe that's what's going on. No wonder my searches for "ring-like thing" weren't turning anything up!
