In case anyone is curious, I went to Omega today. This is the Mag Mile Chicago location.
The young woman who worked there was one of the rudest sales associates I have ever had the displeasure of working with. It was truly about a 3-minute interaction.
She estimated ~$2k ($550 full service, $930 dial refurbishment, $400+ for strap plus some other fee...) which did take me by surprise. I said I wanted to talk to my husband, and she took that to mean that I was incapable of affording it.
Within 30 seconds she asked me if I could even afford to extend the credit to send the watch to Switzerland. She mentioned 3 times that I would have to extend the credit before she considered taking it...what?!
I asked if she could show me some strap options. She said, "it will be black or brown, they will send photos." So...nothing in the store that looks remotely like an Omega strap for me to see, huh?
As I left she said in a condescending manner, "Yes, I'm so sorry it is so expensive and I just don't think it will be worth it unless the watch has sentimental value to you."
Apparently, I deigned to waste her time with such a worthless timepiece! I am just SHOCKED at her attitude. I plan on complaining to the manager.
She also shared that they would never accept the watch if I decided to wait to mail in it later, which directly contradicts @LLJsmom's experience?!
Anyways. Bummer. I am still considering sending it to Omega, as I found out the watch was serviced by some random watch repair person my mom found, and I worry pieces have already been replaced anyways...
