So I've got this reserved and will almost definitely pull the trigger on the little guy.

What do you all think? Anything I should be aware of?

There is no full cert, but they are guessing it might get SI2 or I1, but Leibish claims it is eyeclean (inclusion is on the back), with a good to VG polish/sym. Actually they said VG/VG, but I'm remaining cautious.

Thanks for the input, and don't worry you won't hurt my feelings with some truth ;) .

Looks good to me.
I want a chameleon too.

I'd buy it, if it was 0.25 ct so it didn't dwarf my other pretties. :wink2:

I was wondering if that's what you were alluding to in my thread!

I also would like a chameleon and think this is a good pick. Love the yellow color change. :)

Very pretty chameleon! Probably might be eye clean in person.

Thanks all! Chameleons seem to have terrible clarity in most cases. Wonder why that is.

Would any of you pay the $125 to get the full GIA cert? I was just wondering if I should... Especially since getting it after the purchase would be a hassle.

Getting the full report wouldn't be a priority for me.

I wouldn't like to see it come back with an I1 grading.

do you really care to know the polish and symmetry grade?

I have a half carat chameleon from Leibish, and I find it to be a lot of fun. In fact, I think I'll go get mine out of the dark and watch the color change from yellow to green. :)) Mine has an interesting pear-like shape with surface inclusion (exclusion?) that I'm sure makes it at least an I2. The green color masks the divot, so I hardly notice it. It did not cost a lot, so I was not paying for great clarity and cut and I don't mind.

That diamond has a nice color change, although they probably heated it to get the photo, and you will probably just put it in the dark. Mine takes overnight to lose the daylight color, so it won't be an immediate change like you see with alexandrite. I think both colors on yours are lovely, and you should see a lot of sparkle with the round brilliant cut.

Personally, I would not bother with the GIA report. FCDs are by far about the color, and not the inclusions, symmetry and polish on a report.

Nice find.

Thanks all, I've replied a day back not to bother with the report, so I'll be glad when this little fella comes on board :D

Now to figure out which next colour to get, and to save up a year for it...

I'm not sure that's the case - they're just like any other coloured diamonds! I've got one that's just over 1ct and it's eye clean. One warning, chameleons are not everybody's cup of tea because some of their colourways can be a little odd! I mostly see the green changing (after I take it out from the dark and am wearing it) but I very very very rarely see the orange that mine goes when heated. I have heated it. This is a video of it being heated taken by DBL. The green you see at the start is the colour that is seen most (not the yellowy colour at the end - that only happens in very warm climates.

I would however get a GIA report because they state that the diamond is a chameleon and that's helpful to have as they're not common.

I have a few diamonds that color, but they're not chameleons (that I know of, never heated them). If you like that greenish color, you can get it in non-chameleon form too.

And that's why the GIA report is important!

I agree with TL that diamonds of this colour can be found but you will see a difference during the day to a chameleon when it's worn etc.

It does already have a GIA report, the short abbreviated one.
The question was whether it should also get the complete report.

IMHO, in this case I'd just flip a coin.
It's nice to have that other grading from GIA but I have met and I trust Leibish's GG.
I've bought a few FCDs with GIA's short report.

I'm speed reading as usual! I thought that the OP was having to pay for the report on the Leibish website - NOW I understand! I agree, so long as it has a report there's no need to go one step further!
