Iolani Owners - Question on Setting Durability

Hello Everyone:

I've been admiring all the gorgeous variations of the Iolani setting from Heart of Water Jewels. I am considering having Sally make one in all 18k gold for my .7ct OEC but am a bit nervous about the 1.5mm shank and longer term durability. The shank on my current setting is 3mm wide and about 2mm high. I have been wearing it for years and love that it is nearly indestructible...

Those of you with this setting, can you chime in on how it's been holding up for you... and I'd love to see any pictures of the iolani with with bands (either stacking or wedding)...

Thanks for any feedback!

I can't comment on the setting because it's not one I own (although I think it's gorgeous) but what I can tell you is that Sally's work is exceptional. She's made a number of bespoke pieces for me and honestly, the quality is phenomenal and built to last so I would be surprised if there was a durability problem with this ring.

Thank you, LD! That's great to hear...

I don't have that ring either -- but sometime I WILL! One of my favorites. I second LD's recommendation -- I have a ring & a pair of earrings from Sally & the workmanship is superb. I am sure, too, that if you had any problems with it, she would give you any help you need.

My iolani hasn't given me any issues at all. Granted, I baby it because my most valuable colored stone purchase is set in it, but the setting looks very well-made and sturdy. None of my pieces from Sally have shown any durability issues, even my lotus rings with 1mm shanks.
