I have a 0.77 carat in a double halo, and even with my size 7 fingers, my stone looks huge! I've never wished for a larger stone. So I think a halo is a much better upgrade than going up 0.20mm bigger but still having a solitaire. The finger coverage will be MUCH more noticeable with a halo. A 0.20mm increase will hardly be noticeable unfortunately. I think you will be annoyed that you spent the money and didn't get a noticeable difference.

I agree. Especially when you really want a much larger diamond, another .2mm is not going to scratch that itch.

When I had my 1.7ct RB I went into a Tiffany store and tried on their newest simpla halo setting (embrace?) and on the hand it FELT the same as my 1.7ct! The halo did not make the diamond itself look larger... but part of liking a larger diamond is the aesthetic of the look of the ring on your hand. Boy a halo really gives a great look on the hand!

I am not so perfectionistic. I would be happy with a WF or ERD type of halo for $2000 to $2500 over a hand forged one for $5000 to $6000 ;)) .

By the time I laid my head on my pillow last night I was pretty sure I was keeping what I have. When I woke up this morning I was even more sure. I really do love my ring and nothing is wrong with it! It is amazing to my eyes. I just questioned the size because I love size! Lol. As a lot of us do and I plan on putting it in a halo in the long run with whoever I go with. After waiting to hear what Whiteflash had to say... Their concern was if I was maybe not happy with my diamond and wanted to try a different I. Once they heard it was about size they said they would be happy to do it but thought I would be disappointed. So going with my gut after hearing all the diversity in the feedback (which I so appreciate) I told them to release the diamond! You know what? I felt a HUGE amount of relief. That was good! It was like a strange pressure I put on myself. Lol

Anyway. This legato setting is beautifully executed. I am going to continue wearing it just as is. And when the real DSS starts to kick in I will consider putting it in a beautiful halo. I'm not sure I've seen WF do what I love. But I have seen a few from ERD and have already gotten quotes to get an idea. Whenever I move forward maybe I can just sell the solitaire setting on loupetroop for half? Will it be less? I don't think I mind the loss so I can have a beautiful setting now vs putting it in a cheaper temp setting. Is this part silly? I am just a little over a week into my return period. So I have some time to consider this thoughtfully. If I knew right away what halo and it was attainable ($$) then yes it would make sense to send the ring back and send the same diamond to get set now and apply the setting refund to the new setting.

Anyway. Thank you PSers for sharing your brilliant knowledge and experiences with me.
