Is it possible to change ring head?

I currently have the ring pictured below in platinum. I''m interested in changing it to more of a Stuller Solstice head. Is this feasible, especially since the shank gets thicker towards the base of the prongs? Would it look funny, and if not, is there a ballpark estimate of what a plat head like this would cost?

It doesn''t look like the head could be changed using interchangeable pre-made parts (without major reconstruction surgery) but the model looks rather simple (a tappered knofe edge band linked to the head of the ring...).

The link between the band and the head makes this one a bit different (hence the brand name), but it doesn''t look hard to achieve. Would you have it custom made ?

A certain model from Whiteflash seems close:

The connection between band and head looks very much the same (see upper-right pic). If they could make a six-prong version with the prongs slightly arched (like Solstice) and no surprise diamond, that should be pretty close, no ?

I guess what I''m really after are more delicate prongs and I thought getting a different head would help me. My husband is pretty sentimental about the ring, and doesn''t like the idea of a new setting, so I wanted to leave as much of the ring unchanged as possible. Major reconstruction surgery is therefore out. Perhaps what I really need are the prongs shaved down a little? I do like the way the Solstice curves though.

Wow Ana- you''re amazing with the Photoshop! Thanks for doing that!

Dave- I think when they set the stone, the work with the prongs was a little too heavy for me. I love the 6 prong look, and don''t plan on changing to 4, but feel the tips of the prongs could be smaller and less obtrusive on the stone. Could there be something done to them to make them less noticeable?
